FYI Manhattan uses pork sausage, not opossum like in Walmart-land

I seem to remember a good breakfast buffet joint when passing through Manhattan many years ago. Can't remember the name of it but they had cat head buttermilk biscuits the size of a lap dog with pretty good sausage gravy and some decent waffles. I seem to remember it being on a numbered street or maybe some street about a fish of something. Y'all know what place I'm thinking about? Damnit, had I not been thinking about it, I could have named it.

Kites?

Kites seems to be the choice here. Doesn't ring a bell to me though. Place I'm thinking of had a blue door and was on a numbered street, I believe. I seem to remember it having a neon sign out front. Perhaps this Kites place wasn't always Kites? I'll see if I can jog my uncle's memory cause he was with me and had those cat head buttermilk biscuits that were the size of a Rottweiler. Maybe he'll remember it cause I can't seem to recall.

I remember where it was now. The Roost. Over off 9th St and on Massachusetts St. Good breakfast there. Best in the state if you ask me.

Well, maybe I had the wrong city. Kansas'll do that to a person. Still, The Roost makes a darn good breakfast. Good joint.

...and most people don't know where K-State is. If it's not in Topeka or Lawrence, no one cares.

I travel a lot and when I talk to people and say I'm from Manhattan they always ask which one, the big apple or the little apple.  When I say K-State and the little Apple their faces light up and tell me how much they enjoy watching the cats win championships and grace national TV all the time. It's actually pretty cool
