It's still funny, it's still worth noting . . .

if you're that worried about mother earth, don't fire up the 747 and the back up 747 and the C-17 that carries the 3mpg armored cars and the V8 armored SUV's that get 6 mpg and Marine One and Marine One support copters and all those smokey fossil fuel burners.

Video technology is pretty big these days, I hear.

i think they are betting that the president's attendenace will benefit the cause more than the immediate direct environmental cost.

plus you may as well consider the president's transport costs a universal constant because he is always going somewhere whether or not it is earth day.

Why is that a "universal constant"? Is the Oval Office such a terrible place to work? I assume the carpets have been cleaned quite a few times since Bubba was there. I'm not saying the president should never travel - but this president seems to log a LOT of miles, especially on those Hawaiian vacations, for somebody suposedly so worried about carbon emissions.

Speaking of which, have the oceans stopped rising yet? Has the planet begun to heal?
I've said it before and I'll say it again, K-State fans could have beheaded the entire KU team at midcourt, and K-State fans would be celebrating it this morning.  They are the ISIS of Big 12 fanbases.

So the Earth is a Taurus?

Quote from: the stars
April 22, 2015

There is a somewhat competitive edge to the energy of the day, Taurus, and you might discover that part of this energy is something that you are generating. In fact, you can be thoroughly excited by an idea or project now. Focus on improving rather than simply competing, and you will do very well today. You have vision and the energy to match, so try not to waste it on arguing a point. Your desire to build something solid in your life, to make plans for something long-term, is strong. You are particularly sharp and insightful, although you might be inclined to manipulate and persuade. This is a fine time to focus on your own personal plans. Events occurring these days can challenge your perception of the world and your beliefs. Allow this process to happen - this is evolution and it suits you well.

there is alot of code in there. energy? evolution? generating? waste?

no wonder people are so cheezed

I get the hypocricy, every little bit helps, do your part, etc. but you do have to agree that macro level changes from social movements, policy, industry, technology have a much bigger effect than one more flight out of a million flights and one more armored car out of a million cars (dont you  :))

some of my favorite daxxing is dax beating the crap out of green energy like it was wearing a blue and red tshirt.

in honor of earth day, would you like to tee off on hybrid cars together?

They could have just put up a big video board and had Obama read his speech into a camera. Imagine the roar of excitement when he read "I would love to be in Florida, but I decided to save the hundreds of thousands of gallons of fuel and tonnes of carbon and come to you in this most efficient manor." What a dummy.

Earth Day should be celebrated at home (but only if made of recycled materials) and in the dark.  Otherwise,  hypocrite.

If you mean 0 impact on the one hand, and 0 x 100000000000 on the other, then yeah, I agree.

i can only assume from this you think earth day is exclusively about AGW? or are you some kind of environment denier?

Wouldn't it be more effective if he just planted a tree on the white house lawn? Oh wait.. That would require him to actually do something
