OT: Pertussis (whooping cough)
« on: August 21, 2012, 10:52:27 PM »
I've been battling this for over a week and it is one mean sob. While i am no longer contagious i still am having bouts. If you have not been vaccinated for it, i would strongly urge you to do so. It all started with a simple nagging cough.

I had it in college.  It will go away in like 4 years.

I think that the alcohol content of my bloodstream will keep me safe from this illness.  But stay the eff away from me just in case.

I cut myself with something metal a few months ago and they combined the vaccination with my tetanus shot since I'll have a kid soon.  I'm not huge on getting vaccinations for every little thing, but whooping cough seems like a good one to have. How long does it actually take to get rid of?

On a related note.  I took my dog to the dog show in Topeka last weekend. She had a great time (incidentally she likes to watch on tv as well), but seems to have developed kennel cough. Does this need treatment or just some time?

Wow Trim, T's & P's.  I honestly thought whooping cough was one of those old timey diseases that has been pretty much eradicated like Scarlet Fever or polio.

It kind of was until freaks started not vaccinating their rough ridin' kids.  also trim doesn't have whooping cough.

man, my dog LOVES dogs on TV.

and yes, go to the vet, i'm pretty sure there is some oral liquid medicine or something for it.  might have been something else though.

Better call a cab for tomorrow. Mrs. Gooch said you can not ride to the airport with us now.

Not sure how people don't notice the "OT" at the beginning of the thread title. It sticks out like a sore thumb on goEMAW.

I thought this was a joke thread originally but Trim seemed very serious.

It's tough for the most ethical person on the board to joke about whooping cough. I'm not even sure how he pulled it off.
