It never was personal, it was time for him to go and it was realistic to fire him.
That's my issue. I don't contribute much (if anything) to this board, but the constant screaming for oscar's head, now, is really annoying, IMO. There's nothing we can do about it, and we're at least 18-24 months away from his seat even getting relatively warm.
John Currie isn't going to fire his first coach in less than three years, and even then, it's unlikely he'll do it in less than four. We're probably at least three or more years away from anything actionable taking place with oscar Weber.
And these players he's bringing in aren't bad. They're fringe 150 players. So, he's probably going to win enough to ride out four years and then Currie will have to make the decision to extend or fire.
So, #BiD folks are just going to have to live with it for a while.
His seat is warm already, and there is no way he will get a chance to miss 4 NCAA tournaments, you are out of your mind. Bringing in fringe top 150 recruits won't cut it if he isn't winning and the basketball revenues tank. This is not 2004 athletic departments cannot afford to sit back and wait and hope while mens basketball is eating up more than its taking in.
Also not posting because you are annoyed by a prevalent mantra is stupid. Its a message board, there are always trolls, there are always mantras. We've had threads and talking points derailed since the inception of this board, its the nature of such things. I liked UW, but he is sorry crybaby for quitting because some people disagreed with him. I spent the last 5 winters angerely defending Frank Martin. And _FAN you know full well basketball discussions being derailed is nothing new.
