My mom grew up on a poor hardscabble MO Ozark rocky-top farm.  They were taught to vote and to know what the issues to vote for were.   People took pride in being knowledgeable voters.  Kennedy was the start of dumb ass voting. He was elected because people thought he was better looking and more attractive than Nixon.  This was the dawn of TV politics. The average eligible voter today is scary ignorant about government and issues.  It is more important for a candidate to look cool and to be good looking than it is to be a competent and qualified leader.   Lazy butts are a worse problem than voter ID and such things - about 30% of eligible voters are electing our leaders.  Pit studs know the issues and vote.  Non Pit woosie and weiner types scare the hell out me when I think about the direction our nation is going, hopefully not to dumb-ass lazy voter sewer hell.
