Man, what that guy did was gross and wrong, but that mom needs to get off of the hyperbole express.

As a parent, I'd be pissed, but, dude, it sounds like she was a willing participant in this.  He's a grody creep, but that mom sounds like a chick who is really embarrassed her 15 year old was messing around with a teacher, and is kind of being kind of obtuse about the whole thing.

It's a crime for teachers and people in positions of authority to sex anyone they have that authority over, even if the sex-ee is of age and consenting.  Sub-section 9 for teachers specifically.

Here the girl was under 16, so the teaching thing doesn't even apply.  It might have enhanced the punishment or be an aggravating factor - I don't have the books handy that make it easy to figure that out.  There must have been some serious practical problems with trying the case if they plea bargain'd it to a probation box crime.

A buddy of mine is a friend of his, met him a couple of times when he managed Sam's Club.   Didn't know he had left Sam's.   Always seemed like a nice guy.
