Guys, I haven't read everything about this project, but it occurred to me that I have not seen where Captain Planet and EcoKat have signed off on this thing. Can anyone confirm if they are good with this?

Is this where I drop off my application for lead hazer?

Jk, I know we aren't allowed to haze, that would be illegal.

but seriously, we are going to ruin these pledges until they love us...PM if necessary

its ironic that the number one safety gate program and the guy who invented the nicaraguan canal safety gates which keep the world's 2nd largest ocean from completely draining is from the middle of the good old usa but thousands of miles from the nearest ocean it is protecting.

Does anyone know if they'll be needing software salesmen in Nicaragua?

What night is the most appropriate night for Chapter in Nicaragua?  And, frankly I won't be heart broken if we just punt on dress diners all together.

I am thinking that we make it seasonal.  For example, in football season, we could do Monday, and just get it out of the way fast and then go play QB1.

Definitely.  Better brush up on your localization packages, though.  rough ridin' document sequencing is a pain in the ass, too.

got some buds in the canal biz, spoke w/ them today about this nicaragua idea.  they basically barfed all over it.  said the plans are a complete joke.  read more-

Quote
The canal as planned...would destroy around 400,000 hectares (nearly one million acres) of rainforest and wetlands. The Bosawas Biosphere Reserve is located just north of proposed canal route and houses numerous endangered species such as Baird's tapirs, spider monkeys, jaguars and harpy eagles, while the Indio Maiz Biological Reserve is situated just to the south holds a similar assembly of endangered species.

The canal doesn't even bother to skirt around the Cerro Silva Nature Reserve—home to the oldest oak trees in central America, numerous types of monkeys and populations of bright green quetzals—the authors point out. Plans have the waterway cutting straight through that park's northern section.

The canal and its accompanying ports would also bulldoze over endangered sea turtle nesting beaches on both the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, as well as impact or destroy coral reefs and mangroves, which—in addition to their importance for biodiversity—help buffer inland Nicaragua from tropical storms. As for land animals, those that cannot fly could no longer migrate north to south, cutting species populations off from one another like a watery Berlin Wall.

In addition to impacts on wildlife, indigenous communities—including the Rama, Garifuna, Mayangna, Miskitu and Ulwa—depend on the areas where the proposed canal will be located. No proof has emerged that their rights have been taken into consideration or allocations have been made to make up for disruptions to their lives, the authors note. "Hundreds of villages will have to be evacuated and the indigenous inhabitants relocated," they write. This disruption might even be enough to trigger civil strife.

so i have a big eff you to all the canal supporters out there and a big eff you to this website for hosting this thread.  eff you to pete for starting this thread and eff you to everyone who read this it.  #1Cat

What about Guatemala or Costa Rica? Guatemala is closer to America (the real one) so that is a plus, but Costa Rica has a shorter distance of canal necessary.  Also "rich" is right there in the country name.  Just my :th_twocents:

Benji, we already said that we are going to train the monkeys to watch out for IFC.

With monkeys stolen by pledges?

1. When Dlew dies of monkey aids after getting bit you are gonna have bigger problems than some guy at IFC just doing his job
2. I just overheard clams and daris talking about a party coming up, no monkeys have been trained and no party was registered with IFC.
3. Care to explain this receipt I found in the local Dillablo's trashcan?

I just watched a documentary and I have a few concerns regarding the monkeys and the deadly motaba virus. I think it was called Outbreak.
