3-D Printed guns. Ban 3-D printers
« on: August 01, 2018, 10:02:49 AM »

This Yayhole thinks 3D printed guns are great and everyone has the right to have one under the second amendment.  I really don't want goofy gameboy players able to print homemade guns.  BUT we have the right to bear arms.  However, we don't have the right to own 3D printers.  Government can contolook commerce and to regulate it.
I suppose gun manufacturers will fight this.

This whole thing is really interesting.  It will make gun control infinitely harder to accomplish.

A constitutional right to own a 3D printer makes more sense in 2018 than a right to own a gun, really. Maybe we could get some bipartisan support for an amendment.

the problem is now the major donors of the NRA make real shooty guns that they have to sell at cabelas.  The second amendment applies to their guns, not 3D guns (obviously)

Yea I see this as a real conundrum for the NRA.  Clearly infringes gun ownership, but completely pisses off all their sponsors.

They should just embrace it and sell licensed plans. I'm not sure home printed guns are really going to be popular anyway, at least not as a replacement for regular guns.

Yea the cost is prohibitive to most people and it seems like a huge pain in the ass.   Would be an excellent source of revenue for an enterprising entrepreneur willing to deal with said pain.
