Another shitty road team.
So I'm wondering why is the league so poor overall on the road. I've came up with this:
• Balance. There's not much difference two through seven.
• Youth. A lot of young teams in the league that are unprepared for hostile atmospheres.
• Lack of inside scoring to make up for inconsistent outside shooting on the road. Baylor shouldn't be affected by this, but they shoot way too many outside shots given their length.
• Mediocre defensive league. Coach speak has it teams can't count on shooting game in/game out but defense should be there consistently. K-State and Texas are the only two teams amongst the 2-7 that seem overly concerned about defense and their D seems to vanish on the road, too, which leads me to -
• Weak officials who are too influenced by home crowds and too whistle happy against visiting team, especially with the new rules.
My guess is it's a combination of all factors.
of all the teams to hold them under 70, baylor
Baylor is one of the slowest teams in the league (64 poss/gm) and overall (<63 poss/game). It was a very slow game at only 62 poss, but they did hold ISU to .98 ppp, ISU's 2nd worst game of the year. We held them to 1.01 ppp on Saturday.
