If it wasn't for the sh*tty refs, isu wouldn't have scored 70 pts. 8-0 at home baby

We still did, suck it.

Baylor is one of the slowest teams in the league (64 poss/gm) and overall (<63 poss/game). It was a very slow game at only 62 poss, but they did hold ISU to .98 ppp, ISU's 2nd worst game of the year. We held them to 1.01 ppp on Saturday.

Another shitty road team.
So I'm wondering why is the league so poor overall on the road. I've came up with this:
• Balance. There's not much difference two through seven.
• Youth. A lot of young teams in the league that are unprepared for hostile atmospheres.
• Lack of inside scoring to make up for inconsistent outside shooting on the road. Baylor shouldn't be affected by this, but they shoot way too many outside shots given their length.
• Mediocre defensive league. Coach speak has it teams can't count on shooting game in/game out but defense should be there consistently. K-State and Texas are the only two teams amongst the 2-7 that seem overly concerned about defense and their D seems to vanish on the road, too, which leads me to -
• Weak officials who are too influenced by home crowds and too whistle happy against visiting team, especially with the new rules.

My guess is it's a combination of all factors.

If I remember, the big 12 had one of the higher home/road foul discrepancies.

maybe it was just kansas though.

Wake vs/ Duke was something like 27-13 tonight. Just one game, but man.

The refs aren't the main cause of the khatz home/road discrepancy.  We've been doubled up in fouls at home, just like on the road.  Against KU in the fOOD it as 2-10 at one point.

Our problem with fouls looks like we're terrible at trying to draw them.  Since we have a team led by freshmen, they're not as good a trying to draw contact, especially on the layups.  On the defensive end, most of our fouls are obvious stuff that is always called (nino, wes, will all going for blocks/strips on breakaways).  Hopefully a lot of those issues will improve as the team matures over the next year or two.
