Great scott! Unbearable on the road (again): BU ADV
« on: February 15, 2014, 09:51:35 PM »

The 2nd half oboarding differential was absolutely awful. I never will say one thing cost us the game, but its hard to argue both collectively and on the key sequence that sent the game to overtime that this wasn't the case. Baylor is the best oboarding team in the league for the reason and they simply kicked us around on the glass tonight.

Foster, Nino, and Will all did some great things, but missed key FTs, inability to hit a couple key shots, and inability to rebound cost respectively were big misses for each.

The first half was disappointing because despite incredible defense, K-State's lapses on offense prevented the Cats from building a much bigger lead and once again it cost us.

This team is still a decent one and has a great shot to make the tournament, but close losses on the road are maddening. It would almost have been better to get blown out in a couple of these.

All spot on.

I'm not BID mode, but I still point the finger at Weber on this one.

3 of the Freshman were abysmal tonight and Gip had some awful sequences, and Will Clankling was in the house for to long in this game.

But, make a FT, and it's game over.  Sad.

This one is by far the worst.  We did not have a 10 pt lead with 9 min left in any of the other road losses.   Our opponent did not have a 0.90 ppp (54 pts 60 poss) with 20 seconds left

I agree about the offense letting us down in the first half, but last year we grinded out a 52-50 win at OU when the offense had a lot of problems.

Getting worked on the boards makes me more mad than just about anything.   Take out TCU and the 7 other teams Baylor has played in the Big 12 only gave up 33.9% on OR.     6 defensive boards in 15 chances at a missed shot in the 2nd half is unexacceptable.  Baylor was not just taller, they wanted the loose balls and 50/50 rebounds more than we did.

Baylor even shot 2 2pt shots (down 3) on the last poss of regulation.  They tried to do us a favor and not tie it up.   I will laugh at people that say... can't let Heslip get that shot off.   IF you rebound any of the 3 misses by Baylor...... Heslip never shoots

Im disgusted.  And it pisses me off because our 21 pts allowed in 31 poss in the first half was flat out impressive.  Where the Eff was that team in the 2nd half??????

5 Road Losses:

ku-Their Super Bowl, they looked utterly listless in the previous 2 games, playing some of the worst defense I've ever seen a Self team play, they came out against us out of their minds-I get it.

ISU-Nip Tuck game at a tough place-I get it.

Texas-Guy bombs one at the buzzer at a place they blew out ku-I get it.

WVU-Crap effort overall.

bu-Total Bull$hit inexcusable loss.

at Texas ..... down 4 pts with the ball and 58 secs left
at Iowa St... down 11 with 6:30 left
at WV...... down 7 with 4:30 left

knowing the above,  I am not surprised we did not win any of those

Tonight... Up 10 with 8:50 left.......AND we scored 1 pt in final 6 poss of regulation
It's not just the 3 pt shot to tie the game with under 1 second..... its blowing a 10 pt lead and scoring 1 pt the last 4:00

Baylor shot 38.4 eFG and had a 23.0 TO% in regulation.   And that counts the Heslip 3 that never should have happened.

This has to be the most frustrating Weber Big 12 loss.

I cant remember a Ksu win in the Big 12 where we shot under 40% eFG and had more than 20% TO

1 lousy rebound.   How many poss do we allow a team to get off 4 shots??  So few its not even noteworthy.

And we allow it on a possession.... where the team really has to have a 3 (especially after they missed their first 2 pt shot)

Its just pathetic. It really is.   Baylor did not do anything special to get those 3 ORs either IMO.  We just stood around, not blocking out, in hope the ball would magicly come to us as we stood there.  It didn't.

Something frustrating that hasn't been touched on much yet:

Westicles fouling on every. single. fastbreak. attempt. It's like he doesn't realize the refs are going to call him, regardless of if he makes contact.  Instead of going for the block after the shot, he goes for the big swipe.  Opponents are getting into the bonus fast enough without needing the gift of a free foul or two a half.
