I generally leave a stick of salted bread out.  It's salty enough that it won't spoil.  And eff endbreads.  And eff melting chedder, it just turns into glue and oil.

1) do you use butter or marg, or something else like non-stick pam? Marg.

2) how do you put the butter/marg/pam on the bread? Thick

3) what kind of cheese do you use? American

4) what kind of bread do you use? Whole Wheat

5) how do you cut them, if at all? Depends, sometimes no cut, otherwise diagonal

6) do you salt the pan before cooking the sandwich? Hell no.

7) favorite accompanying dish, i.e.- if soup, what flavor?  chips? Cup of water.

I cook them in a George Foreman grill, makes them crispy.

1) country crock

2) butter outside of bread and throw them onto the electric griddle naked side up (ability to make more than 1 at a time)

3) finely shredded sharp cheddar

4) whole grain wheat... little wheaty things get VERY crunchy

5) I cut the into triangles for the heathens, but just halvsies for meself

6) have not salted the pan, but might try

7) tortilla chips and Coco Bolos recipe guacamole

I also will mince some smoked ham and mix that with the shredded cheese, sometimes throw a tomato slice in there too with just cheese... BUT, my all-time fav is to take tuna salad and apply between two slightly thinner layers of shredded cheddar - the mayo and cheese melts together for an AMAZING combination.

Yeah, mayo on the inside of an egg sandwich is delicious.  Not sure how you sub mayo fpr butter in a grilled cheese though.  Seems like the mayo would just burn.  :dunno:
