not to turn this into yet another will thread, but the talking pt i heard after ole miss is that will "calmed" everyone when he was on the court and things just ran smoother. maybe this is true, maybe we look more aesthetically pleasing with will running off screens or whipping passes side to side for 30 seconds, but the currency of offense is pts, not how "smooth" it looks. frank martin proved that. also the idea that having a non-shooting, unathletic, non-vocal leader calms the other players on the court stretches the bounds of credulity. will is intelligent, occasionally hits 3s, and tries. i'll give him that. but his best quality is staying out of the way. the rest of this stuff by commentators and tucks is just a way to qualify his importance since he doesn't garner stats to quantify it.
Aside from the "will is intelligent" reference--and assuming that means he's "basketball intelligent" (I have no reason to believe he's not non-basketball intelligent)--this is a pretty fair post. That said, I just don't think he'll make a big difference this season. Supposed promise unfulfilled.
