I guess I just see them as two different types of games that wouldn't translate.  Gottlieb has experience in the game he would be coaching at KSU and Geno doesn't.  Gottlieb has recruiting and coaching connections in that game and Geno doesn't.  Gottlieb played that game under a legendary coach and Geno didn't.  Gottlieb spent years watching it, researching it, analyzing it, and commentating on it and Geno didn't.  I hate elaborating.

I don't know what you don't understand about how a 59 year old women's only coach isn't exactly the same as a 37 year old former high major male college player turned men's baskebtall commentator/analyst.  It's the same rough ridin' thing.  You want water or do you want rough ridin' H2O?  Which is it _33 because they are the same goddamned thing.  You wanted Doug, then you want Geno.  No two ways about it.

I have no idea who that is. Is he a D2 football coach? I;m guessing this is an inexact comparison. They questions I have to ask are 1. do we think Snyder is doomed to fail like most think about oscar and 2. Does this Kehres guy exhibit the exact opposite traits that we make fun of Snyder for? Like is he young, a great recruiter and isn't down with nepotism? and 3. Is he literally the greatest winner at the level of whatever sport he coaches?

If the answer to all of these questions is YES than sure I'm down, but I'm not a good judge because I'm likely not going to care nearly as much who replaces Snyder as I did with this last basketball hire.

He's the head coach of Division 3 Mount Union. He's 63 years old. He has won 11 national championships at Mount Union and has a .929 winning percentage, the best in college football history. I have no idea if he can recruit to a division 1 program, but he seems to be doing ok at division 3. I would be pretty "meh" about hiring him, just like I would Geno, but I wouldn't want to burn it down upon hearing his name, either.

The men's game and the women's game run the same stuff. Gottlieb played for a legend, Geno is a legend. All of the connections stuff is speculative. Sure Gottlieb knows a lot of people in the game, but you can't with one hand categorize him as high risk high reward and then assume people are going to line up and place their professional fate in the hands of a 30 something broadcaster.

I'd have a problem with replacing one old guy with another old guy. This isn't a perfect example though as far as my rant concerns because I was focused on the fact that Geno is everything that people who hate on oscar say that he is not.

If j rake asked me if I wanted non-dementia Pat Summit, Kim Mulley, Muffet McGraw, Leon Barmore, or Jeff Walz I would have said no.

If we could get Saban that would feel great, but for the type of coach we would need here generally someone in their 60s would be too old. Saban doesn't need to grind at Alabama the way he would need to here

Prima nocta=   Latin for First Night.  It is commonly associated with the deflowering of Virgins on their wedding night by Nobility not their husbands.
#rape          :bawl:

In modern terms it refers to that feeling when you find out that oscar Weber is now in charge of your basketball team.

and yes both should be recruiting violations.

Remember when Geno put the hand grab on Kim Mulkey's butt earlier this season? I'd bet a ton of $$ that oscar has never done that.

Not sure how much weight to give that in the oscar vs. Geno debate, but it ought to count for something one way or the other.

if we had Geno they would call our guys girls. I just couldn't handle that.

oddly enough, geno always refers to his girls as "guys."
