-How do you feel about OSU and where they are at mentally? Thought game was giant for multiple reasons. OSU was playing with unbelievable confidence. This may bring them down to earth a little. They are very young and have had a number of close games at home. ISU really controlled.......really set this game up nice for KSU. OSU knows they are now beatable.
-KSU has thrived in close games. This one should be close.
-Prior game with OSU....how did KSU overcome Smart's big game? Rodney McGrudder. But, you have to remember, that was the DAY after the Fiesta bowl and the mood in Bram was very somber. Smart came out very confident. And, people weren't sure about this whole oscar Weber thing back then. That win really set the tone for the season as they went on and won the next two road games.
-KSU plays motion offense/stretch four. Can cause K-State problems IF you have a dominant 5. OSU does not fit this mold. OSU is guard oriented too. This is not a bad match up for KSU.
-Marcus Smart DOMINATED the game in Manhattan, but, when all said and done, we took HIS best shot and K-State said "ok, you're the best man on the floor, but we're the better team."
-Do you expect to see a lot of zone (OSU played a lot the first game)? No. The perception of K-State has changed entirely since that game. K-State has shooters....back then, jury still out.
-But, with motion offense, makes it hard to scout (almost impossible because it's driven by "feel"). So, teams will zone so they don't have to face it....makes their preparation easier. Will probably see some zone tomorrow.
-Will KSU win (after very long set up!), Stan picks K-State to win again tomorrow.
Misc. OCAT Thoughts/Questions:
-How many other college basketball teams have not lost ONE game this year where they were favored (got upset). This year especially, that's got to be unusual (LHC Bill Snyder like....but over a much longer season). Maybe two or three?
-How good would this team be with Will Cauley in the mix? I know he narrowed it to K-State/Kentucky (IIRC), but how close were we?
-If roles were reversed.....OSU could win the Big 12 with a win in the Bram and we were solidly in the big dance.....who would you root for? (just kidding, but damn that'd be one I wouldn't be crushed)
-Did you all see that Baylor has crept up to "Last Four Out" as of late last night?
Bonus KU coverage: (not sure who it was)
-COY? Is it Weber? Why should a coach get credit for winning with someone else's players? I think it goes to whoever wins the league and if tie, will be tough. Bill is at least coaching the players he recruited.
-What do you expect from Baylor? Baylor not very good. Besides beating up on the bottom of the league, just haven't stepped up and beat anyone. But, KU is 2-2 in their last four road games.
-But, Bill vs. Drew.....edge definitely to KU.
-What has happened to Baylor? Is criticism of Baylor fair? Over long haul, Drew has done well. How can he come to Baylor and do what he's done. Have to give him a little credit. But, last couple years, should have been more competitive.
-Will Auston give Withey problems since he can step out and hit three? blah, blah, blah
(had to quit listening as this was some of the most shallow analysis ever......)
