Less than two weeks after the University of Kansas announced an independent review of its ticket office and the Williams Educational Fund, top official Ben Kirtland resigned on Monday.Kirtland was the associate athletic director for development and the head of fundraising for Kansas Athletics Inc. He was the highest-ranking official working with the Williams Fund, the athletic department’s fundraising arm, and will be replaced in the interim by Sean Lester, KU’s associate athletics director for internal relations.Kirtland previously worked under athletic director Perkins at Connecticut, where he also played and coached ice hockey, and was hired by Kansas in July 2004 to help the Williams Fund implement a points system similar to the one used at UConn.
