Let me first state that I love being a Washburn student, and I find the Biology and Chemistry departments harder than what I faced at KSU. So basically, I'll fight to defend my chosen college.

I did, however, look at all of the Biology and Chemistry professors credentials today. They all have either a bachelors and/or masters in the field that they teach, but 90% of them have their PhD. in Philosophy.
Is this normal? They are extremely knowledgeable about what they teach, so I won't begrudge them that. I just assumed they all had a doctorate in what they teach. Perhaps the folly is mine.
So, in sum, is a philosophy doctorate just so easy to attain and doesn't make sense to get a doctorate in bio or chem when you can teach it just fine without it?
