If I remember correctly it is traditional in many Latin American cultures (Paternal surname- Maternal surname).

I did overnights for a while.  Schedule/plan your sleep and make sure you have a dark ass room to sleep in.  At a hotel, I would give housekeeping acceptable hours to make up the room (maybe you grab lunch/dinner at 10:30 and hit the sack about noon?).  I usually had a schedule of caffeine intake too (I did a Coke at 1am and a Red Bull at 4am).  Its gonna take caffeine to throw off the melatonin, imo

You can still get a lot done if you chat at the beginning and end of your day. (just make sure the end of your day corresponds with them being in the office.)
