If you really want them to stop, go down there and get the ladder. Once you have the ladder, pull it completely out of the *hole that they are digging so they cannot get out of the *hole. Wait a few days and they will eventually die.

Negative.  They have a telescopic basket lift in that hole, they could use that to reach safety.

On a side note, while it is commendable that they have applied gunite to the earth walls to prevent collapse, that ladder is too short, and using combustion powered equipment in and around holes with people inside is very dangerous as the CO fills the hole.     I don't see any signs of a blower fan to circulate air into the excavation.
