Took my girlfriend that lives in NYC and is from NJ to St. Thomas last week for a much needed vacation. I obviously wore a KU shirt everywhere I went on the island. Everywhere I went people would say "ROCK CHALK", "GO JAYHAWKS", "I'm cheering for Kansas Saturday". My girlfriend was in total disbelief. In line on Friday at the airport a guy walks up next to me and asks if I'm headed to New Orleans and I said "I wish". Walking through the security line with his wife and two daughters I realized that guy was wearing a 'Kansas' hat. I apologized to him for not noticing his KU hat. He commented on my lucky KU jacket I had on and have been wearing every game expect for Baylor since I bought it the Saturday before the MU game on Mass. My girlfriend commented that my lucky jacket is like a batman cape that I won't take off, which is true. The guy's wife said he's usually way worse as her along with his daughters started each exchanging pieces KU apparel the guy owns and wears on a regular basis. My girlfriend looked at me and rolled her eyes and the wife and the two daughters shook their heads. I explained to the 4 girls, my GF, his wife and his two college aged daughters that if their intent was to embarrass the both of us it wasn't working. I guy and I both smiled and we went on our way.I'm so proud of what our school and the town of Lawrence stands for.... I'll shout that shet from the roof tops!
