there has been some ridiculous stuff thrown around by everyone within the last week, myself included. this tops it all though. how the eff do you get from a to b to c here?
a long shot?
someone that would "sit tight" for the ku job?
ku would hire a .500 fifty year old head coach?
"if currie pulls this off"?
"terrific hire".
i mean i just don't even know where to start. just try and rank those from most to least absurd. i dare you.
TAD BOYLE
Head Coach, University of Colorado
BIO: Head Coaching Record: 104-91. Native of Pueblo, Colorado.
WHY BOYLE: The country has started to take notice of the job Boyle has done in Boulder. Since replacing Jeff Bzdelik in 2010, the 49-year-old has guided Colorado to back-to-back 24-win seasons. Boyle has a Sunflower State background having played at Kansas from 1981-1985 and as an assistant at Wichita State from 2000-2006. The head man for the Buffs is also showing growing improvement on the recruiting trail, having already signed a pair of 4-star recruits for 2012, a class which ranks third in the Pac-12.
WHY NOT BOYLE: Boyle has only been at CU for two seasons and it may be difficult for him to leave when he finally has the ball rolling. It's also fairly obvious that as head coach at Colorado, there's less standing in his way of capturing a conference crown in the Pac-12 as their would be if he accepted a job back in the Big 12. There's also talk that Boyle would only leave his home state for one job in Kansas ... and it's not located in Manhattan.
GPC'S QUICK ANALYSIS: Likely a long shot option who we believe will sit tight until the KU job opens, but if Currie pulls this off, it's a terrific hire.
