Yes very pleasing. JO must have felt like a superhero playing against that Czech kid.

I'm cautious in saying this, but JO looks like what Gottlieb says he could be after next year.

I've always thought he could be a poor man's Hasheem Thabeet.  Tall, long, and now he has some scoring touch.  I don't know if he can ever get strong enough for the NBA (like Thabeet), but can be great in college

He is a totally different player with a point guard that gets him some easy buckets...and then the confidence that comes with those buckets.

Did you see all that post-dunk swagger?!?!  :horrorsurprise:

My dad actually used that exact same phrase on the phone with me yesterday.  "Post dunk swagger."  Crazy.

Great minds, etc.

JO has been great recently,  but I still don't see his game translating to the NBA.

JO is better facing up, I hope JO goes to Pete Newell or some other big man camp to work on his back to the basket game which QT this point is nonexistent.

I'm falling in love with JO's face-up jumper. I love when after he makes them (which is usually) commentators talk about how the opposing coach will "live with that."
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Remember at the end of the first half against KU last year? We could have run out the shot clock and only left 5 seconds on the clock before half, but JO took a jumper from the FT line and made it with about 20-25 seconds left on the shot clock. Martin said after the game that if he had missed it, he wouldn't have played the second half. But you know the rest of the story, JO made it (of course), and Frank was very, very happy.

Well, they're right. Not for the reason they say it, because he is actually pretty skilled at that shot...but because he'll only take 1-2 a game even if he hits them.

JO went to Newell's camp last summer
8/11
"This week's roster has a dozen college players, most notably Gonzaga's Matt Goode, Jordan Henriquez of Kansas State and Marquette's Chris Otule. There are also 14 high schoolers in camp, including Nalu Simao and Makana Harrison of Kamehameha, ‘Iolani's Duke Pauli, and four from Taipei."

No matter how good the instruction may be, sometimes it's just really tough to alter a lifetime of habits and skills, whether they are good(his mid-range game) or bad(his lack of post game).

His consistently improving D though

Good find, I don't remember that.  I don't think his back to the basket game is bad, it just doesn't exist.  I love the face up game, maybe he doesn't need a back to the basket game, a high low with him and Gip will be great.
