There were 3 pretty bad spurts we had in this game. And they seem to come right after our 3 spurts that were really really good
Good 1 = With Baylor up 7-6, we go on a 15-4 run to take that 21-11 lead with ten minutes in the 1st half
Good 2 = Scored last 6 pts of the half, then scored 11 of first 15 pts to start the 2nd. A 17-4 run to build the lead back up to 9 pts
Good 3 = down 60-52, we outscore BU 19-7 over 6 minutes to take that 71-67 lead with four minutes to play
Bad 1 = 8 minute stretch (10 to 2 minute mark) in 1st half, we turned the ball over 8 times and got only 4 pts... BU went on 18-4 run
Bad 2 = 5 minute stretch (17 to 12 min mark) in 2nd, we turned the ball over 7 times and BU went on 20-4 run
Bad 3 = Up 71-67, we turned ball over 4 times in our next 6 possessions and then failed to get a shot off final possession.
** What is extremely ugly about our Bad 3 stretches = We had 19 of our 20 TOs in there. And those 3 poor periods of play made up about 16 minutes. Its not good to have 19 TOs in a game.... much less when you can calculate ===== 3 bad stretches --16 minutes -- 19 TOs --10 pts scored
** Another frustrating find is this = Yes BB is a game of runs and mini-runs. However, our 3 good runs we put on Baylor totaled up being 51-15 and those runs consisted of about 16 minutes. We will probably win 99% of the time we make 3 solid runs and are +36 on them
** Shows just how inconsistent our play was last night. But at the same time we shot 50%, were 18-23 FT
But we just can't get around the fact that when we were BAD.... we were really really BAD!
16 minutes = 19TOs 10 pts
The other 24 minutes of the game = 63 pts 1 TO.
