Two things:


1.  I love it how Self gets labeled with the "keeping players from leaving for the NBA" tag, while guys like Roy and Calipari get a free pass.  I couldn't even imagine the reaction/butthurt level on this board if Harrison Barnes and/or Terrence Jones returned for another season at KU, despite being projected as a top five NBA Draft pick.  


 


2.  I'd love it if the Big 12 added Louisville and Memphis to the Big 12.  It would completely enhance the competition level in basketball, and it would give the North teams a more level playing field in terms of talent level in football.  A couple more winnable games on the schedule would be nice.  Plus, Memphis and Louisville would make for some pretty fun road trips.  I've heard Beale Street is incredible (and I love jazz/blues music).

Don't know why you include Cal in your criticism.  He puts more in the league then anyone, usually as quickly as possible and openly celebrates when he does.

From this perspective we see that those of us in the championship business are really in the recruit business. feels pretty great to be nestled safely right between Drexel and Long Beach State

OSU was picked 7th in preseason coaches poll(KSU 6th).

Consensus 5 star SF Lebryan Nash is the most heralded recruit they have as a FR this year. Odds are good that he'll at least be a good player but will he be a great player capable of taking them to the next level?

They probably also need a consistent PG to step up. Paige is serviceable there but he's more of a natural 2. Reger Dowell finished the season there last year and did alright, can he improve upon that and do it throughout the entire season? Slick 4* FR Cezar Guerrero might make some noise here.

Darrell Williams was starting to become a major contributor for them in the paint last year until he got into some serious trouble(rape allegations). I do beleive he has been exonerated(legally at least) as he is still on their roster and expected to be on the team this year. They probably need him to be a consistent player inside if they have any chance of being a contender in the B12 this year.

Class of '12 Marcus Smart could really do some damage in coming years if Nash sticks around.
