An SEC Primer
« on: September 02, 2011, 11:41:45 AM »
The SEC is the dominate conference for college football.  We cheat better than anyone else, pay our players more and win more.  5 NCs in a row cannot be denied.

Here's a quick rundown of the conference from where I sit :)

The conference is divided into two divisions, the East and Where NCs Come From, aka the West

The East
Georgia - Pronounced Jaw-Ja, UGA is the little big man of the SEC.  They've had the best ten year streak in history under Ritch, but his job is very much on the line. If he losses to both South Carolina and Boise early on, he's fired before the season is over.  As for Athens, believe the hype, it's the best town in the SEC, tons of music and good times everywhere.  UGA fans are not too annoying.

Tennessee - The Vols are universally hated by all in the SEC.  Their fans are really, really obnoxious and wear lots of day glo orange.  Knoxville is a dump and their stadium is an even bigger dump.  Their coach has a ton of work left to do after Kiffy left.

Vanderbilt - Private, prestigious school that is kept around to keep the SEC GPA above water.  Pretty good in baseball sometimes.

Florida -  Home of jorts, wife beaters and gold chains.  They love them some Tebow and praise his name whenever possible.  Muschamp is a badass, but it will take a while for them to come back into form as they switch from a spread to a prostyle offense.  Probably your next Miami in terms of violations.

Kentucky - As Vandy is only kept around for GPA, Kentucky is only kept around for Basketball.  They're always terrible at football but have fans that support them no matter what.

South Carolina - Home of Darth Visor and the endless qb/head ball coach spat, they look like they may be decent this season.  Lattimore is a Heisman contender.  They have built all of the hype this season with their win over Bama last season.  Their stadium is in the middle of downtown and is surrounded by 0 bars, other than the ones they build into train cars around the field.  Seriously, they party in old train cars.  Also, they play techno during stops in play.  They're REALLY good at baseball and love to let you know.  They also HATE Clemson fans.

The West
Auburn -  Your defending National Champs!!!  Look for the offense to remain explosive, but for Auburn to take a giant step backwards this season.  And by that, I mean we probably go 8-4 this season.  Trotter is no Cam, but it's said he runs the offense at twice the speed of last season, which is scary.  Routinely called Barners by Bama fans, since Auburn in the agricultural school of Alabama.

Alabama - Bammers, some of the most obnoxious fans in the SEC, especially the sidewalk fans.  Led by Darth Saban, they are a football factory that churn out most of the first round of the NFL draft.  Trent Richardson is a BEAST.  Look for them to be in the national title hunt and deservingly so.

Ole Miss - They love their grove and croakies and everything else that reminds them they're all rich, but live in Mississippi.  The Rebels recently got rid of their Rebel mascot and replaced it with a Black Bear mascot.  It's beyond terrible, just like their football team, and they are mocked all the time for it.  Worst team in the West.

LSU - Another NFL factory, LSU is full of physical freaks.  They're only held back by the fact they cannot recruit a decent qb, that and their ball coach is an idiot.  Another school that thinks purple is a good color for a team, they only get away with it because New Orleans is close by and is full of debauchery, which we all approve of.  Fans are frequently called Corndogs by other teams because they smell like corndogs wherever they go, probably due to all that crap they cook (which is delicious btw).  You do NOT party with LSU fans.  LSU fans are known to party harder than anyone else, and they are proud of it.  In an area where you start drinking at daybreak, LSU sets the bar that no one else meets.

Miss State -  Did you see what they did to Memphis?  650 yards of offense last night.  They've got UF's all O Coordinator and they may be very dangerous this season.  Their matchup with Auburn in two weeks will tell us all a lot about both teams.  Their fans like to use cowbells for noisemakers at their field.  Sort of embarassing.

Arkansas - Petrino is a great coach, and it looks like he's settled down.  Arkansas is a dangerous team, but the new qb is a big question.  They are also the most hated road trip in the entire SEC.  In the middle of nowhere, on a two lane road.  Make stupid hog calls (pig sooooooieeee) as a cheer, lame.

Despite The Hat?  Miles is an idiot and their qb spot is not improved from last season.

First they have to get past Oregon.  Oregon will be super focused, as beating them is the #1 key for them returning to the big game.  Even though that has nothing to do with SEC standings, I think it gives them focus...

They do have some great scheduling.  vs Florida, @Tenn, vs Auburn, off week, @Bama

That game vs Bama should be a bloody deathmatch.  I will probably head down there to party with friends.

Will use for my weekly picks that is kind of famous around here.  :fatty:  Thanks!
Fifteen minutes later, when the Kansas locker room opened its doors to the media, the Jayhawks were still crying. Literally, bawling. All of them. I've never seen anything like it, and I've seen devastated college locker rooms -- after losses in the Final Four, the national championship game -- ever

Wippuh, as you're well aware being so versed in the ins and outs of SEC, there has been quite a bit of discussion within the national media about K-State most likely joining the SEC with A&M.

to that end, we started a thread about who our new SEC main rival will be.

i will TTT it (not trinity)

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.
