So we had a player named Wylie Howard.  Remember him?  Well in this highlight here he gets all tangled up with Oklahoma State's Byron Houston on the low block and some real hilarious almost-fighting goes on.  Howard suckerpunches this Poke loser, then ducks and hides behind Big John Rettinger. (sp?)

(Fight is somewhere around 3:55)

Also, watching that video really takes me back, steve henson was such a good player, good kid from a good family in mcpherson, really excited about spradling next year because he reminds me so much of henson, nice wes welker type (but for hoops).

:horrorsurprise:  Go to about the 6 minute mark and listen to what Eddie Sutton says happened to their team when they were celebrating the win!

:kstategrad:  <---------, but with a bag of projectiles

Angry.

OMG.  Some really really incredible WTFs in this related OSU video, and I'm not just talking about the killer theme song.

1.  Colorado's court is funny and boring.
2.  Oklahoma State's comeback was insane!
3.  Nebraska was ranked #11 in the nation??
4.  Oklahoma State's team nation
5.  LOL @ Sutton basically pleading with the people of Boulder to come to basketball games.
6.  Go to 13:10.  God, what a pantywaist.
7.  Go to 14:55 and LOL @ this loser.

Hilarious vid.....I was at that game and remember thinking Byron Houston was a punk, but being 10 years old I didn't really catch what led up to the 'fight'. Helluva cheap shot by Howard.

And the shade of purple on that court, yikes.

I like the weird long capital B on the court out of bounds, enclosed in a circle.  It's weirdly light blue in some parts.  I also like Dana Altman's mustache.

Found Wylie Howard on Facebook.  Am considering sending him a message with this link.  Please advise.

It shouldn't quite take you all the way back to Henson, however, since he graduated the year prior to this video.

Get one of those Sabetha extruder machinist to fix your plumbing.

Remember Lance (Simmons?) sending Houston to the deck with a chop to the neck a year to two earlier in Bram. Might explain the physical play.

Honestly, the first thing I noticed was the pride of Strong City, John Rettiger.

Make me think of playing fake two on two/ksu vs ou on the mini goal with my bro. Henson/Humphrey vs mookie/Stacy king.

God, I really hated that guy.

Texas Christian University coach Gary Patterson has been hired as Kansas State's 34th football coach, multiple sources have confirmed to GoPowercat.com.  Patterson replaces Ron Prince, who was fired Wednesday. - Tim Fitzgerald   Nov, 7, 2008

It's weird.  I was a young'un during these days and I just absolutely adored these dudes and thought they were incredible superstars.  Thought that Wylie Howard and John Rettiger were superstars and that Dana Altman was coach of the century.  Then last night I watched another video from this same year and figured out that we started Big 8 play 1-5.

Wyile was an awesome dude...my dad went to KSU as a non-traditional and had Wyile come up to my hometown (in the middle of BFE) and talk to the grade school and the High School.  Awesome guy!!!

Me too, also like Wylie Howard's name becaouse it reminded me of the Coyote and also Willie the Wildcat.  Also, I thought it was cool that Steve Henson used to say "thank you"when the refs gave him the ball, and always raise his hand when he fouled.  Funny because now I actually prefer this   :ck:
If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

The worst part of all of that is that we could have had Eddie Sutton and all of his baggage and personal demons sitting on our bench.   BUT . . . Steve Miller wanted him some Dana Altman and he wanted him badly.
