Wish JHR could finish more than 30% of the time.  dood sucks at making bunny layups.  seems like he gets too sped up in games.  hopefully he learns to slow himself down and make easy plays.  i think he can actually be pretty good. he seems to be a developing into a decent rebounder.  also, he's awesome at swatting shots out of bounds

also, ANY TIME he get switched on a guard (which should never happen imo), the referees mouths start watering, just waiting for said guard to bump into JHR so he can call JHR for a foul

Seems like the game has slowed down somewhat for him, or he is just gaining confidence lately. Maybe Wally and Freddy leaving caused this...

As you said, still misses too many short shots, but has made a couple back to the basket moves on the block lately that were very surprising - he didn't just dribble into a crowd. Guards always get into his chest though, which makes him foul prone.

There is so much truth to this. And it doesn't just apply to Jordan. Jake, McG and Sprads are basically the only starters who ever have their eyes on the hoop when they toss one up. Sometimes Curt but he actually has touch. The junk chunkin that everyone else does is getting to be really confusing.

Ooh, nice outfit. What is that, Dacron?

I'm ready to concede that Jake is the best player, but my main point was emphasized tonight.  JHR has moved to a different level than he was at 4 games ago.  This is huge.

My point about McGruder was that I hoped he would step it up to another level and be aggressive just like JHR.  He has not done that yet.  But when Jake plays like he did tonight Rod doesn't need to.

Yeah huge leap forward for Jordan. There will still be ups and downs but that was awesome. Loved his two post moves, the face-up in the lane, and the (relatively) sticky hands and presence of mind on the catch and dunk from Jake. Was aggressive and well-positioned most of the night. Just a great game from him. Someday he'll figure out how/when to foul.

it appears he is learning how to use the glass to finish.

I am very happy with his overall development this year.

Might as well own it.

JHR has some really seemingly bad brainfarts from time to time, but I wonder how many of those are just his body betraying him. It's obvious that his frame is keeping him from maximizing his potential, he just looks weak and goofy as hell out there despite his effort. Thing is though, a lot of our bigs lack/have lacked explosiveness. JamSam and CK are the only ones who have shown flashes of it. Judge and 'Sprilla were both weak. Maybe this is on our assistants and/or S&C coaches? I dunno. Would love to hear from HBBIQ types on this.

when he got blocked by that goofy-ass frosh that CU has. That was inexplicable.

a skinny, long seven-foot post blocking a skinny, long seven-foot post cannot be explained?

JHR should know how to embarrass a freshman who is presumably much less athletic than him. That's how I viewed it.

The thing that I'm noticing is that JHR is only an effective player against certain teams (i.e. Missouri). Otherwise, he's basically a liability on the floor. I mean, this can happen with multiple players on different teams. Sean May of UNC almost always had bad games against the bigs from Boston College like 5 years ago. Does Frank not know that JHR is a situational player at best? I'm more perplexed about this than I am about his choice in PG rotation.

JHR played really hard today and that's why Frank left him in. He also is one of the few guys that can match-up length-wise with Baylor.

Don't know why Judge isn't playing, or Russell. But their decrease in PT seems to be tied together somehow, but maybe not. Just a weird deal with those two.

You can play hard all you want and still be a liability. That's what JHR was tonight, basically. That's why I don't get why Frank leaves him out there. And yeah, I think everyone on this board is wondering WTF is up with Judge.

JHR was far from terrible tonight. Not great, maybe not even good, but he wasn't terrible.

I'll give him credit for being able to get down low and occasionally force some hacks by BU. His positioning isn't bad, and he sometimes plays with a decent BBIQ. But his post moves are so weak that he'll get blasted by the really good teams in the conference. That's why it's frustrating to see him out there when Wally could potentially get his crap together and tear it up. But, who knows, 5 stars do bust every once in a while :dunno:

Someone has to play when Kelly is in foul trouble or Frank gets ticked enough to pull him. If its Wally great, but right now its JHR.

Hey, I want Wally to play and be good as much as the next guy, but its not like Frank hasn't went out of his way to give him every opportunity. For now, if JHR can give a few solid minutes when Kelly is being dumb, so be it.

Fair enough. But goddamn if he isn't frustrating to watch. Seeing all of these weak post moves by players other than Kelly have started to grate on me. It reminds me of how bad I am at posting up despite the fact that I'm built like an o-lineman.
