I just found myself not caring about the characters throughout the entire movie.  It brought up some interesting questions, but it they were asked in such long and ridiculous roundabout way that it almost wasn't even worth it.  The plot was so complicated (WE NEED A CHEMIST! NOW AN ARCHITECT! NEXT DREAM!), that it took away from its message.

Great idea, :meh: execution imo.

It was supposed to be complicated so that the viewer could have the "aha!" moment. You didn't have to be attached to the character to be moved by the train suicide or the building jump.

No, you want to know more about the characters, not to kill them.

I just didn't care, at all, about whether or not he would ever see his kids again.
The question about whether or not it is okay for him to create his own, fake reality, was the movie's only redeeming quality, imo.
Hats off to Ellen Paige for ruining the movie for me.  Usually can't stand her, she was quite good in this.  Thought it was a pretty good flick.  Wish I hadn't known all the hype going in.

And yes LEO is the king right now and has been for the last 8 years or so.

If there was a gif of nicname thwarting the attempted-flag-taker and then gesturing him to suck it, followed by motioning for all of Hilton Shelter to boo him louder, it'd be better than that auburn gif.

Also, Levitt earned his stripes in this movie.  He can look forward to a nice career push after this.

I don't see alot of actions films, but I thought it was REALLY entertaining after the first 30 minutes, like the original Matrix.  Much better than the half-witted Avatar.  And it's one of those movies that's worth seeing on the big screen to get the full effect.

Even if you fully accept the script writer's world, though, hoo boy, there were a few major failures of logic.  Oh well, I don't think it's worth spending too much time dissecting.  I'd definitely recommend.

Perfect description. Just like The Matrix, this movie is much better after a few drinks so you're not worried about the dissection. Just the basic storyline with amazing action sequences.

+1 She was good. I just couldn't get over the fact that she was someone other than Juno.

It was entertaining enough and the actors were good, but I don't understand the people who are saying "OMG! I've seen it twice and I'm going to see it 3 more times!  It totally blew my mind!"

Have these people never seen The Matrix?  There were just too many similarities between the two for me to be "blown away" by Inception. Then you take into consideration that The Matrix was about the fate of the world and Inception was about the fate of an energy corporation and a criminal who's going insane, and it just seemed a bit underwhelming.

I read that Christopher Nolan has been working on the Inception concept for quite a while, and only got the opportunity to see it realized now that he's had enough success with his other films. If that's the case, and he was working on this before The Matrix, then I feel kinda bad for him. He's got this great idea for an action/mindbender about bringing the subconscious to reality and all the ways you could play with physics in that scenario and invent new rules for the environment, and then the Wachowski bros go and totally one-up him a decade before he can make it.

Shared dreams/altered realities were around long before the Matrix.

http://chud.com/articles/articles/24477/1/NEVER-WAKE-UP-THE-MEANING-AND-SECRET-OF-INCEPTION/Page1.html

Quote
Every single moment of Inception is a dream.

Quote
Michael Caine's character implores Cobb to return to reality, to wake up. During the chase in Mombasa, Cobb tries to escape down an alleyway, and the two buildings between which he's running begin closing in on him - a classic anxiety dream moment. When he finally pulls himself free he finds Ken Watanabe's character waiting for him, against all logic. Except dream logic.

A dream, inside of a dream, inside of another dream, INSIDE OF ANOTHER FRACKING DREAM!!

 :runaway:

But really, I'm not one of those people who is obsessed with this movie, but this article is pretty awesome.

Beautiful sequence there.

I saw it once and liked it but wasn't blown away. Do I need to see it at least four more times in the theatre before it takes on a Matrix-esque importance to me? Because I haven't watched The Matrix in literally five or more years. So basically it sucks.

Ooh, nice outfit. What is that, Dacron?
