I don't think he was T'd up for hanging on the rim but for hanging for a second and then grabbing his own board before coming back down. I'm not a basketball officiating high IQ guy and I don't know what the official ruling is but this seems like the logical/correct one. The only other options would be just to use the possession arrow (but then there is the chance that KSU gets the ball there and that wouldn't make sense) or turn possession over to the other team there. Technical makes the most sense to me.
