Kansas State Football / Re: Nigel's Island?

Nigel won't sniff top 20 NFL Draft pick or 1st team all american.  LOL.

Nigel is good, but not great, so in a normal year this would probably be true.

His 3 pick game against Crist is going to absolutely balloon his stats though. So basically the above assertion will come down to whether the media/scout types look deeper into the crap pile of a QB most of his INTs came against.

LOL @ how hard Talib owns this place.

I could probably watch the video of Jordy owning Talib about 1000 times and not get sick of it.

"Coach Prince, what do you think your record will be this year?"

"I'm not going to go to my guys and say 'I expect us to lose these games" so I think we'll be... we'll be... oh eff it. We'll lose to GB and NE for sure, and probably about 10 others..."

6) The fact that "burn this mother-effer down" butthurt has morphed into "turn the basketball board into a complete shitshow and BBS travesty of team horns vs team angels in every single rough ridin' thread" butthurt.

If Bryce gets drafted and neither Hartman nor Garrett do, does the KSU Athletics dept still claim that the streak is alive?

57
Yep. Oh and do we have to mention he's from Miami in every article? It's like when Tony Gonzalez was with the chiefs and they had to mention he played basketball on every broadcast. Shoot me already.

Or "Curtis Kelly, the transfer from UCONN..."

This does annoy me, but if I look in the mirror I realize I do a little :emawkid: every time they say "the Kansas State product" after Jordy or Sproles does something awesome. Slightly less fist pumping for Freeman.

149 pages for a smattering of elite mentions, fawning over a couple in-state elites we never thought we'd get, some pics of Frank and Cal that somehow seemed more elite than any of the elite mentions Frank ever got, thinking we'd beaten Georgetown for a guy, last ditch hope after a disastrous March/April, and a finale of ellipses....

All in a day's (2 years) work...

Doesn't it seem likely that he only got angel to stay by assuring him he wouldn't recruit a pg in this class?

no, that seems Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!).  I doubt angel gives a eff if oscar recruited another PG or not.  I think it's more likely that oscar is a coward that didn't want to run someone.

And a coward that won't tell Josh Gray "Sorry bro, don't have the scholly I thought we would."

Return a rough ridin' phone call oscar.  Its the mow your own lawn, dry-cleaning taking, chicken nuggets eating man-of-the-people thing to do.

this. to go from Frank to recordless, fired, failing, chicken nuggets-eating oscar is one thing, but to add nutless to that list is  :barf:.

It's like every time I try to have even a small shred of optimism about this guy he kills it.

maybe john currie isn't done playing pirates of the carribean on his carnival cruise so b-dub can't get anyone hired :dunno:

ADJC: "oscar my man, welcome aboard!"
BW: "Hi John. Umm.. John, I'm a little bit concerned about that whole Frank Martin thing? I mean, I don't mean to be rufflin' any feathers here, but, well... how much authority will I have over the Basketball program."

"Oh you'll be just fine here buddy, don't you worry about it. I'm glad you brought it up though - here's a pen. I want you to take that and write down the names of a few guys you think might be good assistant coaches. When you're done with the list, go ahead and leave it on my desk. I'm going to go on a cruise now, so don't you go talking to any of the coaches or anything. In fact, when you're done with that list how about you go pick out a few options for your sideline dry-erase board for next season and... well hell, grab yourself some Freddy's, on the house!" says Currie as he pats BW on the shoulder and turns to walk away.

BW stares at his shoes a little, takes his hands out of his pockets them puts them back in a few times and says "Umm.. but John!?" with his voice cracking a little as he tries to raise it.

At first pretending not to hear, JC keeps walking, but when oscar awkwardly jogs to catch up with him JC does an exasperated sigh and turns around. "WHAT IS IT oscar?"

"Well, I'd really like to call a few guys, you know, just to see what they think, maybe do a little recruiting you know?"

"oscar, do you like chicken nuggets?"

"Yes John"

"Then don't call any coaches"

"But I..."

"DONT DO IT oscar"

"OH.. ok..  Hey John?"

"WHAT IS IT oscar???"

"Can I get a large chicken nuggets?"

Shot in the dark, but I say he's going to play this year and transfer the next. Just a hunch.

Best of both worlds though - we get to see ART play for the cats one more season, totally piss off oscar, give #teamhorns more reason to hate oscar, and yet don't have to see ART's spirit totally crushed as he chooses somewhere else for his final 2 years.

TTG will you be coming to Manhattan for our football game? You can crash at my place.

I've already been to Manhattan twice for football. I've run out of nuts for you fuckers to kick.

On the basketball front, though- We've been planning on making the NIT games for almost a month now. Until last week, I felt pretty good about our chances.

Now... If we lose Forrest to you guys? It might be too painful. Like traveling to the wedding between your soul mate and some lawn mowing simpleton who destroyed a once-proud Big 10 program.

So great. Easily the best post since Black Saturday. TY TTG

Hey guys, remember #gottlieb4ksu?

Man that was fun...

Instead of trying to decide whether we should win or lose or playing out scenarios of how to get Currie fired, I did this. Still  :bball:, but can really see  :flush: coming.

October:

-HCBW's appearaces during preseason media days are widely dissected by media and BBSers alike. He makes guarded comments about rumored disconnect between him and ART, says that Will has the more confidence in his shot than ever, and Shane still has a really, really good body. Says the team really bonded a lot during the summer trip to Brazil. Tells everyone Jordan has really improved his 3-pointer, with guidance from Darren Kent, still doesn't understand why people call him JO.

Tuck Reaction: We always knew this was our guy. Do you see how he's doing everything right and exactly how Frank should have? I bet you anything Will Spradling will be first team all Big 12, and they'll see exactly how much Frank was holding us back last year. And who cares about that Mexican kid... he had way too many turnovers, and just takes shots away from Will.

goEMAW Reaction #1:  :jerk: Nothing to see here. Has he recruited anyone yet? Meh, back to football.

goEMAW Reaction #2:  :barf: Bullshit. We're going to see 40 minutes of Will rough ridin' Spradling every game, and he's going to pull Rodney every time he misses a shot in that damn pick and pop, then put in Martavious just because he has a nice body. FUCKFUCKFUCK. Burn the mother effer.

November:

-HCBW opens season vs. Ft. Hays state at the Octagon of chicken nuggets. Introduced to a mixed reaction from the fans. New introductory video debuts, with a variety of clips of 3-pointers from last year and BW's head talking about how he's found a new home in Manhattan or something weird like that. Will involve classic rock.

- At the end of November, the wild wild weber cats have beaten all opponents handily and are heading into a preseason tournament just after Thanksgiving. Angel (assuming he's still on the team) has been benched. Will leads team in scoring, Rod is doing his thing, all in all not that different than Frank.

Tucks:  Total Heaven. HCBW is so wonderful, and even was seen grilling at a recent tailgate. They cannot get ENOUGH of the interaction of "the Webers" at halftime, and on GoPo there are giant threads dedicated to photoshopped family portraits of oscar, Megan and their newfound son Stan. The girls are not included.

goEMAW1: I'll take it. The players seem to have bought in, but damn KU is looking dominant, and not letting us forget it since Operation Charlie isn't going well. For now, oscar is fine. Come back in mid-January.

goEMAW2:  :chainsaw:Possibly the only thing worse than listening to his damn voice in those pressers is watching the Tucks eat this crap up and no longer being able to wave my flag with Angel on the bench. HE HASN'T DONE ANYTHING, and the defense that has already been exhibited has only been bailed out by larger size on the boards. Whatever. Sprads will collapse (again) against superior athleticism in league play, but if that rough rider doesn't put Angel in soon....

December:
More of the same. We lose in the 2nd round of a preseason tournament. Cracks start to form in the Weber defense, but Tuck opinion remains unchanged.

January:

League play. Weber defense proves to be a huge downgrade over Franksketball, but the offense somehow continues to click. Angel and oscar must have made up, or BW has somehow fallen out of love with Tay's body, because ART is seeing the floor, and even though he gets pulled constantly, gets Rod many more open looks. Will's output goes down, and now he only plays 30 min/game. Gipson and JO give enough of a low-post presence to keep us in games.

January record: 7-3

Tucks: oscar is a great guy, but gosh darnit, why is he changing what he'd been doing? Will needs to see more minutes, and take more shots. Obviously his system will work much better once he gets his own players in.

goEMAW1:I think BW is finally realizing how to maximize this team. Yeah those losses sucked, but we're actually improving. I really hope these rando transfers we've got for next year will work out.

goEMAW2: ahhhh... I still hate this guy, his dweeby voice and his aww shucksiness, but the team is actually somewhat likeable. I hate to admit it but they are at a better point now than last year, which is awful since BW still will never give us long-term success.

February: 9-1, 1 top 10 win.

Rodney emerging as dominant force in the big 12, leading Cats and averaging 18/game for the month. Media debates merits of BW's offense and highlighting Rod's skills. Angel is effectively handling the offense but only plays about 20 min/game as oscar still benches him a lot and they butt heads.

Tucks: GO oscar!!! Ahhh all the haters what you got to say now huh? This man can flat out COACH. Still wish that Will would get more minutes, but at least I know that this will be his team next year. Frank would NEVER have done this well with this team!

goEMAW1: YES! I like this guy. I don't even care that this success is entirely dependent on the chemistry and ability of players that currently don't seem to be replaceable. Bring it on March

goEMAW2: Whatever. I give up. I knew this would happen last March, and this school has bought into HCBW completely. I'm just going to enjoy the ride while it lasts. F it.

March:

7-4, get blown out in the Big12 championship when Angel is suspended from the team :horrorsurprise:. get a 4 seed in the NCAAs.

April:

Lose in the Sweet16. Rod is 1st team All-Big12. Angel is 3rd team. JO first team defense.
Season record 25-9

Tucks: Great season oscar. Can't wait to see what you'll do next year. In his very first year, he nearly matched Frank's success. Don't know that I agreed with all of his decisions, but darn it he represents our school well and knows how to treat those young men. He was right to suspend Angel.

goEMAW1: Well good job oscar, now go prove it. Get some guys. Seriously, we had enough mentions under Frank, time for some commits...

goEMAW2: This is a sinking ship and I'm off it. the B12 tournament and the NCAAs exposed the weaknesses in BW's coaching style, with a team better than any he will ever have at K-State. Why the hell could we not get further in the NCAA's before we recede back into obscurity and basketball mediocrity. Damnit, and there's no way Currie or Weber will get fired for another 2 seasons at the earliest.

I don't see Jamar

But I bet there's an easter egg receipt on the ground somewhere in there...

i don't have it in me to hate oscar weber. sadly, i see a lot of myself in him.  :sdeek:

I see a lot of myself in oscar in that we'd both be shitty basketball coaches.

67
No one bring a Weber grill. Could be construed as support  :curse: :curse: :curse:

Gottlieb.

Credit MizzouKSU I guess..

as much as it pains me to say it, since he was a huge frank lover and hated tom crean and big ten basketball, cole manbeck has a chance to become a k-state legend if gottlieb becomes k-state's coach. he wrote the article that started the movement. without cole's article, the search might still be focused on jankovich or henson or boyle.

of course, i was the original outside-the-box thinker who said to hire an espn analyst. but i went with the wrong one and schulz gave bilas an immediate "no way" on twitter.

THIS. Manbeck probably (definitely) got the idea from goEMAW, but deserves a lot of credit for putting it out to the world.

Mother shazbot!.

"Heard from my "source" (parent in ad office) that lon is interested...."

Such a single track mind today. That ^ only made me think:

"Hi.. your name is Shabazz what? I'm Doug Gottlieb, but I guess I didn't need to tell you that."

70
Eff it. My day's already screwed and I can barely contain myself from  :emawkid:Gottlieb :emawkid: all day long. Unless I can somehow charge time to #Gottlieb4KSU I might as well hop on I-70 and do something that actually contributes to society by protesting/rallying/doing anything possible to make sure we don't eff this up.

Holy crap, with Antigua the reversal of sentiment, from tucks and BBS'ers alike, toward Currie in one week would be so incredible to watch.

Bill Reiter:

Quote
Made calls today & heard this doozy: Frank Martin, while trying to decide what to do, was told by LHC LHC LHC Bill Snyder he should "get the hell out."

Wish my gut reaction to Bill hating Currie wasn't to actually respect Currie a little bit more. Not even in the same way Currie wished he hadn't seen the receipt.

Topeka C-J has a top 10 list of Frank replacements.

One of 'em is Kim Mulkey.

Link: http://cjonline.com/slideshow/potential-targets-k-state-coaching-search#slide=8

She has shown she can coach guys.  She took that young blossom that is Griner and turned her into a full fledged man.

Not sure what make me  :barf: more; TCJ actually putting her in the list or that Frank couldn't do this for Wally.

On the Border Patrol this morning, DeCourcey was really talking up Lobos assistant Craig Neal for K-State. Said he is a helluva recruiter.

I hate everyone.

I hate his hair. Too Quinn Snydery
