Kansas State Football / I wish we were playing Penn State

If they were eligible to play in the postseason this season, they surely would have been picked for this game, seeing as they have at least a .500 record in conference play. I would be much more excited about a Penn State/K-State matchup. They would be super motivated and excited to beat us for stealing Jake Waters from them, and we would be super motivated and excited to beat a historically elite football program like Penn State.
Michigan just doesn't excite me. It seems like the national perception is that beating Michigan is a lot like beating Texas Tech, or maybe Washington State for all you West-Coasters. Just a team who has been pretty average historically, with the exception of 1 or 2 seasons.
Plus, Michigan doesn't even have a mascot. That eliminates some of the fun pre-bowl activities. Remember last year when Willie beat the Oregon Duck in a push-up contest? Think of the great photo ops we're missing with this stud:

Absolutely disgusting how Bill Self is cranking the hype machine up to 11 so that Wiggins can't possibly live up to expectations and HAS to play at least 2 more years. What a piece of crap. All Bill ever does is set these kids up to fail.

I mean, could you imagine? THAT is what you have to look forward to as a football fan. Not $100m stadium renovations. Not BCS bowls and Big 12 Championships. Bragging about averaging 18,500 people in the stands and how you have 80 or so guys playing arena league or in Canada.
I mean, I just can't think of anything that sad.

A few things that stick out:
Contributions decreasing nearly $12m from '11 to '12. I'm guessing this has a lot to do with donations towards the westside expansion in '11, but it's still a little strange.
The massive jump in expenses from '05 to '06 in coaching salaries and scholarships before leveling off. Hiring 2 new coaching staffs explains a portion of the coaching salaries, but scholarships going from $450k to $4.5m? And why do our 2012 expenses only increase slightly from '11 to '12? Just capitalizing construction costs until the Westside is ready for use? It just seems that a $75m project should increase expenses by more than $1.2m.
I know that these are just overly-simplified charts to show financial information, so maybe our financial statements would explain those a lot better.

34 y/o NBA player Jason Collins came out to SI today. Good for him. Unfortunately he's a free agent, so this will either a.) be chalked up as a publicity stunt or b.) not do much for other gay athletes who have to worry about being accepted by teammates and fans.
