current preference of adding four new members, sources tell The Athletic.

BYU, UCF, Cincinnati and Houston

Definitely expect this because it's what any random idiot would do, which is the route we've always taken.

Those teams are all fine. Just not thrilled that it seems Plan A is to rush into being the new AAC.

What other viable plan is there? I actually think this in plan B. Plan A was the Pac and they said no

Not commit to anything any time soon. Things change.

Like waiting to see if Nebraska wants to take a huge financial pay cut to join us?

Like fallout from other major moves that people speculate about.

Maybe we can lure Michigan to the Big 12 to anchor us

As far as I can tell the Alliance is worthless.  No contract was signed and the schools on those conferences have already scheduled games a decade plus out in the future.

6454
Cincy, BYU, Memphis, UCF.  Geography is already screwed up because of WVU, so what the hell.  If we want to sub in Boise for Memphis, that's fine, i don't care.  But Cincy and BYU are absolutely no brainers, and I think UCF is pretty darn close too.

Effectively kills the AAC relative to our distance between them as a conference as well.  Does the timing in which we add them change our ability to extract exit fees from the departing members?

6455
I think WVU gets us but I’m aligned on the others.

This is interesting, since also heard on other podcasts that this round of realignment is about eyes watching games and not locations.  The new ways fans watch games is not dominated by cable but more so by streaming.  So get teams that want and invest in football and provide competition.  We may get large streaming contracts along with Fox/ESPN, CBS, NBC and also a conference network.

Yea the tier 3 stuff was just another example of Texas being a shitty partner.  New contract can likely get more collectively by selling combined tier 3 rights. Big 12 will have to be on the bleeding edge of distribution and get creative to minimize the impact on total revenue.  Have heard the idea of selling naming rights to the conference as an additional revenue stream.

6457
How do you get triple vaxxed

6458
If this shitty conference is going to forge ahead then we might as well get one relatively close glorious roadie out of it.  Bring in CSU.

This has always been my outlook. I truly don't give a eff if Colorado State has trash fan support or is a bad program or whatever. At this point as we scrape the bottom of the barrel and cling to the edge of the cliff knowing that eventually we'll drop, I just want one fun place to go watch the Cats play. Waco ain't it. Lubbock ain't it. Houston ain't it. Orlando is gross. Memphis is whack. Give me Ft. Collins, Boise, or Provo (close to Salt Lake City). We need one city that has something other than disgusting flat land.

*edit* I guess we still technically have Morgantown which is a truly glorious roadie, but I've been there a couple times so I'd like another mountainous place.

The new big 12 is basically on same footing as the Pac 12 and ACC, it’s really not as bad as I thought originally.  Look at the distribution paid out by ACC and PAC and you will realize they have low paying deals.  If SEC and big 10 expand and take schools from PAC and ACC the big 12 might actually be the 3rd best conference.

The first 4 teams are most logical so that makes sense to me and is what I prefer.

That’s exactly why it’s kind of a nothingburger. Anyone could have predicted the top 4-5 candidates.

I think the message is Houston is a no go for some members of the big 12 (probably the Texas teams and OSU) even though they are likely one of the top 4 teams to add.  If it’s true Houston is not being considered I think it’s probably not definitive yet.

The streak for punishing disadvantaged youth is way longer than since 1962

SEC
big 10

ACC
PAC

CSU would be a great addition. It's a major university in a populated state, located in an elite city. Playing them every year would be a lot of fun.

Ft Collins is elite no question, they aren’t in the top 4 best teams to add though.

They should make a run at Klieman but I’m sure their pride will not allow it

Will they fire him immediately after OU puts 70 on them or wait until they lose to Buffalo?
Being a Nebraska folk hero and Trev Alberts as the AD, i think they'll let him finish out the year.  But i think he's in big trouble at this point.
A) he’s not an NU hero. Remember he went to Stanford for two seasons originally despite being a local.
B) Trev is the opposite of his friend. Moos was his friend. I have a moderate amount of insidery here.

Any rumblings on who the BMD want to go after?

Trev will convince him to "resign" early so they can conduct the coaching search in the light of day.

I assume the revelations he held unsanctioned practices last year and his alleged troubles with alcohol will likely be used to persuade him to step down.

What are the hospital treatments for covid patients these days? I was thinking respirators were not really utilized much anymore.
I think you mean ventilators but I know proning patients made a big difference after the start of the pandemic.

The ICU nurses I know never used regeneron as a treatment

Yes you are right ventilators, so just the way they are positioned is saving people?
