Is K-State at the minimum for number of sports programs to be considered DI? (I think so...)

We will need to add lacrosse and field hockey to compete in Big East.

GET YOUR WICKETS READY!!!

OMG, would love to add lacrosse

That is laying the groundwork for a defense of any lawsuit Baylor may file, they aren't holding up crap.

I got it. Still will not be that simple but I can see the work around. But as with any court hearing all it takes is the right (or left) judge to gum up the works for several years.
This would be horrible for us. This conference either needs to blow up this year and we go BE or it needs to stick around for a long time. Otherwise we are completely screwed because in the meantime, the BE will find other football schools and we won't have anywhere to go at that point.

It wouldn't happen anyway.  The conference (smartly) voted to let them go.  Baylor throwing a fit isn't holding up crap.

Is it possible Baylor has a place to land and thus the SEC is not worried about a lawsuit coming from them? or the other schools that could be Left Behind? All this does is delay this crap till after the Final 4 IMO

no

So A&M is going to be forced to stay because of the Kids (Baylor), Sweet.

No, please shut up.

So, A&M leaves, Baylor does not Sue, signs wavier and dies on the Mid-Major vine?

Baylor may or may not sue but they aren't holding up crap by doing so.  June 30, 2012 will be aTm's last day in the conference.

However A&M would have to go Indy for 2012 season in order for SEC to avoid litigation from Big 12 conference/Baylor?

I guess? but is A&M not in the red as far as there Athletic Department? Could they afford a year with out TV revenues?

mods, please merge this conversation with every thread on Wabash Station, tia

Quote from:  Machen
After receiving unanimous written assurance from the Big 12 on September 2 that the Southeastern Conference was free to accept Texas A&M to join as a new member, the presidents and chancellors of the SEC met last night with the intention of accepting the application of Texas A&M to be the newest member of the SEC.

We were notified yesterday afternoon that at least one Big 12 institution had withdrawn its previous consent and was considering legal action.

The SEC has stated that to consider an institution for membership, there must be no contractual hindrances to its departure. The SEC voted unanimously to accept Texas A&M University as a member upon receiving acceptable reconfirmation that the Big 12 and its members have reaffirmed the letter dated September 2, 2011.

Have you seen Jamar's posture?  He could be 7' for all we know.

Why should Baylor be the only ones bringing in the legal teams?  Would love to see other Big 12 members get involved.  Would like to see this limit the aggressiveness of expansion from big 10, PAC 12, and SEC.

If/when we go to the Big East, we are going to go through this bullshit again.

Your part 2 answered why your part 1 won't happen.

But that assumes the SEC didn't throw this contingency out there to save face because they don't like subsequent expansion candidates.

That is ridiculous

A&M plus VT equals win.

A&M plus Mizzou or WVU equals fail.

If this is true, knowing Baylor, there is no way you'll get everyone to sign that waiver.  No way.  Why put that contingency out there?  If you think you will win, just admit them and deal with the legal stuff later.

No, it's ridiculous.  They aren't going to vote for their inclusion if they don't want them.  They also aren't going to go into this without knowing exactly what they are getting especially after seeing how the Pac12 went down last year.  Just think about what it would take to get that many SEC votes for this consipiracy when it would be much easier/cleaner/efficient to just vote no and say you based your no votes on the Baylor threat.

Wish I understood why Beebe is waiving the conference's right to sue.

It would just hold up the inevitable.  Nobody else is going anywhere while that crap is going on.

This may be true, but at least we would get some money out of the deal.

Starr is going to eat up all of it in attorney fees/expenses while going rough ridin' sue crazy on them.  He has zero motivation to hold back on costs while Baylor is the only one standing up to them.

I just can't see ND joining the big 10. I could see Texas and Notre Dame forming their own new conference that plucks teams from the big 10, though.

Something like:

Texas
Notre Dame
Pitt
Ohio State
Michigan
USC
UCLA
OU

yeah, TX could do that if they wanted to.  probably more work than they are interested in though.

61471
Let's say TX decides to go to the Big 10 (it's up to them, any conference would bend over for them) how long until Texas takes over the reigns of the conference from Ohio State?  I bet it's second year.

61472
TX board suggesting UT, MU, Pitt and ND to Big 10

I don't think the Big 10 wants Pitt. Why wouldn't they just add UT and ND?

Because ND likes to play Pitt for some reason
