Kansas State Football / most handsome ksu fb 2011...

not that close IMO.  Tre Walker's runnin' away w/ it.  I'd call him a lock for cover of Jet Black magazine in future (if there is such a magazine).

distant 2nd?  Jerrell Childs?

most anticipated post on the internet.  truly signals the cfb off-season has come to it's crescendo and it's 'bout time to ball.

they really like Vernon Vaughn.  He was given the highest 3 star grade.  The kid has tremendous ball skills.  I think if he were a tad bit faster he'd be a lock as a 4 star but he appears to be a kid who can improve his speed given his lanky build.

Tay Bender's rating was solid as well...akin to a 5.6 3 star on rivals.

The other commit, Will Davis, has not be evaluated yet.

I don't have premium access so I can't read the full evals but they start to say they are surprised Bender has not received more recruiting attention.

going into a game 1.

A few things.  A poke fan poster came on GPC claiming to be Hunter Davis' bro-in-law.  Said Hunter's up around 270 now (not fat)...he played around 255-260 last fall.  The kid is already as big as Beisel was as a senior and runs just as well.  Ian Seau played last fall around 250-255.  I believe these two will play this year as they are ready physically and are gifted in their ability to burst and run.  IMO Klein moves to LB..I think his skills are better suited there and he runs really well.  I placed Darryl Blackmon in the strongside DE depth position but I see him as redshirting and possibly moving to OT.  I believe Allred stays on the DL and starts at nose.  I placed in bold all of the new bodies available for this year (also bolded kids who redshirted last year as well).

Kansas State Football / how would you use Daniel Sams this year?
« on: April 20, 2011, 11:36:03 AM »
I hope he doesn't redshirt.

based on the lack of ability to get consistent seperation at the wide receiver position I would use his big play potential 10-20 snaps a game at wide receiver.  Give him some reps at QB, too.

If Miami and OU want you as a skill player other than QB chances are you may have some abilities elsewhere.  I don't know...perhaps use the resources you possess as a coach?

Anybody think Sams might be a little dangerous on the middle screen? bubble screen?  etc?

Kansas State Football / not good..(The U)

they return about as much starting experience on both their offensive and defensive lines as possible by a college team.

The current 2nd string LT is former #2 player in nation and started 10 games as a freshman in 2010.

+ return 6 starts at RT

+ The LG, C, and RG all started every game last season.

= 54 starts last season among their current post-spring depth chart on the OL

That doesn't even take into account their QB who will likely be a 4th year starter next season.

The interior DL each started every game and their DE's both started games last season.

This is a Miami team that outgained it's opponents by nearly 100 ypg last season but turned the ball over recklessly. It is a very talented team with a great deal of experience in areas where it is highly valued.

Kansas State Football / Vandy spring ball...bet Snyder would do it..

maybe not.

at LB are Lamur, Art, and Walker.  Snyder commenting "they bring more athleticism to the position".

If Harold doesn't get it together I expect A. Davis and Meshak to start at the ends.  Snyder mentioned that Davis is ahead of schedule and "surprised" him w/ his progress in practices.

I think we're going to like Davis...very quick and built more like Chris Johnson and Henry Bryant (6'/6'1 and 260ish).  Those two were warriors for us.

163
they look just a tad bit more athletic than our guys.

their coaches look athletic too.

164
been out runnin fellow teammate and OU signee Frank Shannon in sprints in track.  Bryant's best times in 100 - 11.2 and 200 - 23.5

He anchors skyline's 4x100 relay team.  He's not fast for a high school sprinter but definitely fast for a 6-3/6-4 230lb DE.

here is video of Marquel....he's the anchor of 4X100 in red.  Skyline wins the relay.

also, Marquel is wearing wife beater tank in about every photo I've seen....good news.

We signed a solid group of athletes in this class for DE.

Kansas State Football / memory lane...

faced 5 NFL starting QB's (Romo, Palmer, Wallace, Sims, and Walter) plus Brad Smith and still led NCAA in scoring defense, 2nd in total defense, 2nd in rushing defense, and 3rd in pass efficiency defense.

166
Marcus Morris is avg 13ppg and 6 rpg vs. top 4 of the Big 12.

Jake?  Only 25ppg and 45% from 3.

No need to even discuss which one of these players is ballz out on defense.  Marcus will give you the occasional weakside blocked shot and then stare...though JO is still laughing as he backed him up to the hoop and made a practice type lay up.

Hmmm...POY?  He looked scared tonight vs. aTm's bigs.

167
not up yet but will be...half of his recaps over the years has purple bloodstains on it.

Kansas State Football / Nebraska is better at being hicks...

percentage of state employment related to agriculture.

Nebraska - 31
Kansas - 20

I hope that isn't the final score.  Despite NU's belief of a higher level of sophistication due to the Big 10 invite it appears the upper midwest just wanted to get into cahoots w/ the farmers for some good commodities trading.  I mean Detroit is underwater w/ the level of unemployment.

We need to get ownership rights on farmageddon before the redneck hicks up North try to use that term for their yearly tussle w/ Iowa.

I do believe given the considerably smaller population up in Nebraska coupled w/ the higher percentage of workers in Agriculture there is definitely more liberties taken w/ farm animals just north of us.

yesterday.   Good stuff.

The NC State that put up over 500 yards & 45 pts @ mighty Ga Tech yesterday and completely manhandled Cincinnati a few weeks ago mustered a mere 239 yards and only 10 of 30 passing vs. our directional school opponent.  BTW, anyone notice the South Dakota that put up 41 pts and over 400 yards passing in a win over Minnesota only managed 7 pts in a beatdown vs. our directional opponent?

Yes, KSU is very average to above average BCS conference team...KSU fans know this.  The talent and depth is not close to that of the earlier Snyder run...

Yet, these wins...whether ugly, boring, whatever...are some good wins.  UCLA still can't pass the ball but they can run the ball and have a helluva lot of athletes on defense and it appears their first two losses, KSU and Stanford, aren't all that bad.

Kansas State Football / Be honest. Denard?...
« on: September 16, 2010, 12:44:22 PM »
how many times have you thought about him the last two weeks?  Best way to get over something like this is to talk about it...get it out in the open.

Just thinking a Denard LOI and NCAA hardship away from possibly having...

QB - Denard
RB - Bryce
Slot - DT
WR - Brodrick
WR - Harper
FB - Wilson
