Ja’Kobi might make this our best offensive class ever. Really really want an athletic 6’5 receiver

56
Has anyone checked on our TSC buddies? That one has got to really sting right?

It’s what is happening right now, they are just formalizing it.
How? Currently they have to sit out a year the second time unless the NCAA gives them a waiver.

Just imagine being a DC with S. Lockett, Lane, Manning, and Randle lined up wide. One of our massive TEs with soft hands eyeing that soft spot behind your LBs. One of the fastest players in college football in the backfield knowing he can burn anyone you try covering him with. And even if you cover everyone you’ve got Johnson sitting there scanning your defense ready to take off and gain 20 yards before anyone even sees him run. All behind an OL that averages about 6’4” 295.

Switch Randle and Edwards in your daydream, but yes

If by merge you mean the best 6 remaining non Stanford P12 schools get absorbed and branded as a new Big 12 I completely agree

This is correct. Wazzu, Oregon St., Cal, would all dilute the payouts even more. No reason to life raft the riff raff.

That’s what schools like that think about KSU, etc. when contemplating the pac 12 taking big 12 schools.

Both conferences should put ego aside and merge into something awesome and appreciate having jobber teams in the league that will allow for their top teams each year to go undefeated rather than having parity.

That is very true about KSU and it probably isn't going to change. So if teams get relegated and it isn't us, seems like that would do nothing but help us.

Quote
Trojans Wire talked to Buffaloes Wire and said this about the idea of Pac-12 and Big 12 schools coming together in a major collaboration:

The Pac-12 could merge with the Big 12, but after the overturn of Roe v. Wade, the idea of seeing liberal Pac-12 institutions in the same bed with conservative schools from the South Central Plains just doesn’t strike me as a likely outcome. If the Pac-12 had wanted to add Baylor or TCU or Houston, it would have done so last year after Texas and Oklahoma went to the SEC. There’s a reason that didn’t happen. The institutional and cultural fits do not exist, and in a reworked conference, no Pac-12 or Big 12 team will have the juice needed to really move the needle.

So maddingly dumb lol. Do they think Arizona and Utah aren't conservative states? Also, what the hell does this matter when it comes to college athletics? Would they not join the SEC today if offered?

The heisman winner last year was 6’ 190 pounds. The idea that Avery needs to be 200+ to play in 2023 is not rooted in reality.

Well yeah, but Avery is even a couple inches taller and still weighs 20 pounds less than Bryce Young did.

I’d imagine at least one of Lara, rubley, or Howard will wind up transferring if Johnson comes in and is ready to start as a freshman

Unless Avery gains about 25 pounds before his freshman year, I don't think he will be starting by then

He’s probably kidding, but this would actually give them a chance to win this thing

It's painfully obvious that everything needs to be blown up and regrouped regionally. All schools collectively bargain for largest payout with uneven distribution based on viewership. Keep the big schools happy and fat while maintaining regional games.

This is the only option left for me to really even care anymore

71
Could we "dissolve" the conference and get the old big 12 buddies back together with the few decent Pac schools instead of the new turd schools?

72
This is all so dumb.

At least it isn't us this time.  Spread the dumbness around.

saw some early chatter that the Pac might try to poach current B12? None of it really makes much sense though. It's just all stupid.

May hurt that we don't have a GoR yet. Our conference is a lot better than the leftovers of that conference in football, basketball, and viewership.

Right now, according to 247, our 6 commits have a combined 18 other P5 offers. There’s been a few classes that I’m not sure there were 18 P5 offers to the entire final class. And Beebe probably would have a few if he wasn’t full force EMAW from the beginning.

Edwards has 18 by himself (19 if you go ahead and count Houston)

He has 20 counting Houston on 247

Just to emphasize this, we beat out:

1. OU
2. Nebraska
3. Oregon
4. Michigan State
5. Washington
6. Wisconsin
7. 20+ P5 offers

Have we ever gotten a recruit with a resume like that?
