I couldn't find the home maintenance/care thread and it wouldn't matter anyway b/c I've never read it to know if this is covered. 

I finally committed to one of these things this year.  Some dipshit in my stack was putting the stuff that fresh food is packed with down their drain, backed up the pipe and caused water in mine.  I didn't think it was that bad, but it's going to end up having me replacing the entire floor except for the carpeted bedroom and one tiled bathroom, plus all the cabinetry, countertops and backsplash.  Basically, with the water having touched the wood floor and the island that is cabinet material, everything of that material has to be replaced b/c they can't match it.

Anyway, the floors were engineered wood.  I can replace it with like-quality engineered wood, but I'm leaning towards getting slightly less expensive luxury vinyl for practical purposes and having more flexibility if more crap happens in the future.  I'll utilize the price difference in upgrading the other stuff.  Smart?  Dumb?

Assuming that's the move, anyone know anything about vinyl flooring?  I can't find crap online that clearly says what the "best" one is, and the guy at the store was telling me they're all pretty much the same and that the price differences are in how good the graphics are, which seemed like bullshit.  Surely there are different levels of quality in the construction of the floor material itself, right?

It seemed like there's good designs/colors in every brand and sub-type.  I want to know the best floor type/brand/model first and then select the design/color out of that field. 

What's the best flooring?  Within the LV world, I think there's no max price I'm limited by because it's all cheaper than what it would be to get engineered wood.

After the flooring is settled on, this thread will move on to cabinetry, counters and backsplash.  T-Y.

STARKVILLE, Miss. – K-State faced roughly no adversity in its first two wins this season. The Wildcats knew that would end in Week 3, but they were prepared to bounce back from it in a 31-24 win at No. 23 Mississippi State on Saturday in Davis Wade Stadium.
 
The Wildcats (3-0) scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, after MSU put up 17 straight, to clinch the program's first road win against a Power Five opponent since topping Miami 28-24 in 2011. It also marked the program's first ever road win over an opponent in the SEC at the time the game was played.

"It was a great day. I knew we would have adversity and I knew our guys wouldn't panic and we'd have resolve, and that's kind of what happened," K-State head coach Chris Klieman said. "It was a really good football team that we played. It was punch, counter-punch."
 
K-State's Malik Knowles delivered a momentum-changing blow early in the fourth quarter of a game played in 100-degree humid temperatures. The freshman receiver tied the game at 24 with a 100-yard kickoff return. It ended a long dry spell from K-State, which included only two true offensive series and 15 total yards in the third quarter.
 
"It was a big play when we needed it," Klieman said. "It was a great job by the guys up front and getting the wall set. I was happy Malik could make it the whole way because I know he was cramping up as well today."
 
After the special teams score, the Wildcat defense forced two consecutive three-and-outs to give them five such stops for the game. K-State quarterback Skylar Thompson followed the second fourth quarter stop with a six-play, 53-yard scoring drive to take the lead. He ended it with a 15-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Dalton Gruntley with 5:37 to play.
 
"We knew we were going to battle adversity, but I feel like we handled it well as a whole, as a team, as coaches," running back James Gilbert, with a team-high 59 rushing yards on 17 attempts, said. "Nobody pointed a finger. We just stepped up to the challenge and made the plays we needed to (in order) to win the game."
 
K-State turned MSU over on downs on the ensuing drive. On fourth-and-16, AJ Parker and Elijah Sullivan capped the stop by hitting a diving MSU quarterback Garrett Schrader propelling him into a helicopter spin that forced him to fall a yard shy of the first down marker.
 
"This was going to be a four-quarter slugfest. That's what we told our guys," Klieman said. "Now, how much resolve do you have in the fourth quarter? How much do you believe in yourself? How much can you raise your level of play in the fourth quarter? I thought we had some really good stops on defense."
 
K-State overcame a trio of lost fumbles with the strong fourth quarter, two on muffed punt returns and another on a Parker interception return. MSU turned those Wildcat turnovers into 17 points between the second and third quarters.
 
"That's football. Those things happen," Klieman said. "It's just how you respond to those things and I thought our defense did a great job."
 
The Wildcats also turned the Bulldogs over three times, turning two of them into a combined 10 points.
 
Senior safety Denzel Goolsby, who led the team with 11 tackles, snagged an interception that bounced off the hands of a Mississippi State receiver in the first quarter. It led to a 35-yard field goal from Blake Lynch.
 
About three minutes before halftime, freshman linebacker Daniel Green scooped up a fumble to set up a 30-yard scoring drive. MSU answered, however, with a 31-second touchdown drive, finished by a 35-yard touchdown pass to take momentum into the half.
 
"Today was the ultimate test to see where our football team was. We knew we were going to battle adversity, but I feel like we handled it well," Gilbert said, as K-State will have a bye week before opening up Big 12 play at Oklahoma State on September 28. "I feel like going into the bye week everybody can get their bodies back (fresh) and we can start conference play and keep it rolling."

If history has taught us anything about this No. 25/24 K-State men's basketball team, it's that adversity does not rattle these Wildcats for long, if at all. Most often, it brings out the best out of them.
 
The latest example: K-State's 71-59 win against Georgia State in Bramlage Coliseum on Saturday that snapped a two-game losing streak. The Wildcats (7-2) finished the game on a 21-6 run without seniors Claws and Deathbite. They did so against a Georgia State team picked to win the Sun Belt Conference and led by an NBA Draft prospect in D'Marcus Simonds.
 
"Things happen for a reason, I really believe that. We had to have some adversity," K-State head coach oscar Weber said. "I didn't want this adversity that we had tonight but hopefully it will help us grow as a team."

Does this mean that the amount of money we'd pay assistants was set in stone or the amount we'd pay the head coach was set in stone or something else?

It couldn't possibly mean that we were only going to pay whoever got hired as head coach what eff head is getting, right? 

BS: As we get into the details over the next few days, were there any stipulations put on Coach Klieman or any of the candidates for that matter about the current coaching staff retention?

GT: No there's not. As you go through this process, we have some really great assistants. All we told every candidate is look, we have some great staff. We encourage you to interview as many or all of them, whatever you feel your needs are, because obviously they have coaches they're familiar with and coaches that they've coached with or people they've worked with that are maybe at other institutions. But we never want to say you have to hire somebody, that puts that coach in a bad position and puts the assistants in a bad position if you think about it because they only want to work if they're wanted too. We did tell them here are our staff that we think would be great additions if you wanted to keep them but that's up to you as the head coach. There was never a stipulation on any, whether it was Coach Klieman or any of our candidates, and there were never any real financial issues. They knew exactly what the contract was going to be and those that were interested knew what our parameters were. People take jobs and don't get jobs for a lot of different reasons.

After seeing the info promulgated by kstatesports, I can only assume that we had to beat off multiple suitors this year and that eff head rejected many in years past.  It probably wasn't our money that got him as I read he's lowest paid in our low-medium power 5 conference, so I'm guessing it came down to the PEOPLE, specifically being in gene's grandfather'd friends and family plan.

Who else tried and failed to procure the services of this missouri valley icon only for gene to swoop in and bring him into the family?

Kansas State Football / Clue - LHC Bill Snyder firing edition

KSO and other media types are in full-blown coaching search mode, with a presumption that Bill will be gone after Saturday's game.  I've seen nothing that suggests Bill will voluntarily leave, so for the speculation about Venables along with a host of D-2 coaches to be warranted, that means KSU will be firing Bill.

Who do you think will do it, how and when/where?  Or, does it turn out that nobody in the KSU mansion will have what it took to shoot, stab, choke or bash the figurative skull that is Snyder's tenure with a candlestick?

If you won, post here with the year and your team name if you can remember and who was on your team.  It's fine here to list by individuals by gE names or nicknames; KK will get with everyone later to figure out how you want to be listed on here after he knows what there will be room for.

It would be pretty disappointing.

Trump's opponent in 2016 used the N word all the time while first lady of Arkansas.   The State of Arkansas used to be a customer of mine, and the long time people there who were around when Clinton was gubnor would often talk how angry she would get if people of a certain color didn't fall in line with her initiatives to "help" them.    I believe it to be a generational thing.
