IIRC, that was the 2001 BOB when 5th quarter (freshman band) took home the title. or maybe not.

Nope, was 2000, but we def. did lose to a freshman band when we were seniors.

That sounds crazy and I can only imagine.  Glad I wasn't there for that.  Gustav was a blast! :pbj:  ....for like three days until all the liquor and food ran out and it got old sitting in hot-ass muggy weather.  Then I bailed and went to my Grandma's house in Chattanooga.

Great book on Katrina: Zeitoun, by Dave Eggers.  Increds.  Amazing.  Read it.

*edit*:  Who will write a book about MHK's microburst?   :bracketmouse:  <--But with microburst book

I was lying.  I don't actually have a good relationship with him at all, I was trying to bribe you with something I couldn't deliver.  That f***er got the plug pulled on my band in the 2000 Battle of the Bands because we were so good that the crowd was getting too rowdy.  He made the sound guy shut the speakers off right before my big solo!  But seriously.  F*** that guy.

Fatty, you and I are two peas in a pod who will always be buds with a special bond.  I also had a run-in with MHS administration in 1999 for computer malfeasance.  Mine was a bit more severe, though: made an angelfire website called Screw Benson.  It had page after page of descriptions of terrible decisions Principal Benson made during his tenure and how he was basically a crap human being.  Had to meet with the superintendent and do 40 hours of janitorial work over the summer so I didn't get sued for slander or some bullshit.  (I actually just listened to 101.5 and napped in the darkroom of the photo class all day for a week.)  Got in serious troubs with that website and it was totally not worth it but I will say it was anyway.

But back to McCarty.  Know what I heard?  I heard he hates The Killers and hates Jake even more, so you should probably do a video that combines them both.  And who the hell has the name 'Terry' that is a man, anyway?

:dubious:

i want it to all line up.  you know, like when it gets to the "i got soul but i'm not a soldier" part, something really awesome and dramatic from jake's career plays.

do it.  for all of us.  i will pull some strings (had a good relationship with mr. mccarty in h.s.) to get you on the manhattan high wall of fame!   :excited:

you know what would make me swell with pride and  :bawl: at the same time? if you came out of video retirement and did a pullen tribute video with the killers' song "all these things that I've done" in the background.

Ever heard of a hurricane party?

Until you people have done this you have no idea just how fun they are.  OMFG.  I'm gonna name my first-born son Gustav because of the parties we had that week.  Holy cac.

can confirm - Katrina was my first.

Where were you?  Let's talk Louisiana.

I have been told that you can pop out hail damage by putting your car out in the heat/sun on a hot summer day, then putting dry ice on it.

Then, go to Vegas.

Has it actually been documented that OBz hates the term 'K-State,' or is that just conjecture from all his interviews?

Really anything by Fatty, especially either commenting about airports or asking for help with grammatical issues.  I also really like threads about MHS tennis.  Or anything else that was old-school MHS-ey or old-school K-Statey or old-school Manhattan-ey.  (But not in a stupid 'tuck way.)

14788
Those of you still in the motherland, does Terry still sell candles? Does the Collegian still run Jim's Journal?

That's cold-blooded.  Dilly's Deli...that's where Starbucks is now, right?  Or was it where Sisters of Sound is?

Yup, Starbucks.  Had like $2 Ruebens on Tuesday.  Also, unlimited crackers.

They were downstairs at the phone they had outside of the dorm.

Sorry I didn't catch that, I'm not 1,000.   :cyclist:

My dad calls about the weather and I live 1000 miles away.

Always love it when he calls to tell me what to do when a Hurricane is coming . . . Dad, uh you've lived in Missouri and Kansas all your life, how many Hurricanes you been through there?

Where do you live?

30-40% more in the IT industry is outrageous. Might I ask what responsibilities you would have?

well, i'm still at my first job after graduating...so it's more of a reflection on the crap pay I get now, then on what I'll be making somewhere else. Also would be going from a school system job, to more of an actual business.

COME FIX MY PRINTER, YOU JERK!   :chainsaw:

Hello everyone,

It is not often that we get to play at a cemetery, and it is not often that we have a new album coming out. Very soon, though, those things will be happening within a couple of days of each other. So we decided to do something to mark the events.

At the aforementioned cemetery (the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles) on April 23rd, there will be a sort of art installation for our new album (which is called "Take Care, Take Care, Take Care" and which comes out on April 18th in the UK, April 25th in Europe, and April 26th in the US and Canada).

The event will be called "Taking Care: 6 Visual Interpretations," and that is indeed pretty much what it sounds like--at six different locations around the cemetery, there will be a station that includes speakers playing one of the new songs from the new album, along with a work of art that was inspired by that particular song. Each piece of art was done by a different artist in the medium of their choice.

The event starts at 8:00 PM, and the cemetery closes at 11:00 PM (so you can come at any time during those hours). Admission is free if you RSVP, which you can do so here.

Here are the artists' names and the track name for which they did artwork:

Last Known Surroundings -- Matthew Lessner

Human Qualities -- James Fields

Trembling Hands -- Matt Amato

Be Comfortable, Creature -- Jesse Fleming

Postcard from 1952 -- Chris Lipomi

Let Me Back In -- Alexis Disselkoen

We are pretty excited about the whole thing.

We will be leaving in a few days to start playing some shows again. It has been too long, and we hope to see a lot of you out there.

Love, Explosions
