I would love to visit Dax's palace.

33652
Is there any chance that Texas would go to the Big East with us if the Big East would let them keep their network?

Kansas State Football / Re: Does being a football blue blood hurt us?
« on: September 07, 2011, 09:59:20 AM »
I think that as long as we aren't the bluest of the blue bloods, we will be fine. The SEC just wants to make sure Baylor won't sue their pants off before they take us. The Big 12 will not survive without us, and I will miss our old rivalries.

Would prefer MWC over Big East.  No crap.  East is like the opposite of progress.

That is completely rough ridin' Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!). The MWC offers no value at all now that BYU, Utah, and TCU are gone.

33655
Is K-State at the minimum for number of sports programs to be considered DI? (I think so...)

We probably are, but we can still cut costs (looking at you, Deb).

33656
So how many millions of dollars is K-State due to lose at this point in time (even in the best case Big East scenario)?

Not known considering Big East television contracts will be restructured.

I think it's somewhat safe to say that we will make as much (maybe more) as we are currently making, but nowhere close to as much as we would have made with the new Big 12 contracts.

33657
Wish I understood why Beebe is waiving the conference's right to sue.

It would just hold up the inevitable.  Nobody else is going anywhere while that crap is going on.

This may be true, but at least we would get some money out of the deal.

33658
I've been running some math on all this as we look into the future.

PAC 12 adds OU/OSU/TX/Tech to get to 16. (Not a prediction, just taking one scenario regarding possible school placement for the sake of doing the math.)

SEC 13 adds Mizzou, WVU, and Va Tech to get to 16.

Big One-Gee adds ND, Pitt, Syracuse, and Boston College to get to 16.

One superconference spot left to fill, 16 slots.

ACC has lost 2 of its teams to other conferences, leaving 10.

Big East has lost 3 of its teams to other conferences, leaving 6.

They merge, that's 16 teams, leaving out KU, KSU, ISU, and Baylor.

It may be in our best interest to get into the Big East now, rather than "promoting" other schools to the BCS that could then wind up being additional competitors for Top 64 slots down the road.

I would bet a large sum of money that all ACC teams stay put.

That has been the most surprising thing about this whole process that no one really expected.

They really have a horrible media rights deal compared to everyone else, yet none of them seem interested at all in leaving the ACC.

If there's anything that will screw up the concept of the Super Conference, and help us in the long run, it's that the ACC seems to genuinely want to stick together and not really rock the boat.

It's not really that surprising when you think about it. The schools don't want to lose their in-state rivalries (especially Duke-North Carolina). I'm sure Florida State and Clemson would leave in a heartbeat, but Florida and South Carolina won't allow it.

On expansion, my question about Mizzou/Kansas/KState. How good can they be without access to Texas talent B12 offered?

Somebody needs to inform Dan Wetzel that TCU is in the Big East.

K-State announces their 2012-2013 home conference basketball schedule:

MU/ISU
Georgetown
Pitt
UConn
Marquette
Syracuse
Kansas
Rutgers
Cincinnati
Louisville

 :woot:

JFC, Squawkstin.  Maybe those Buckeyes were right.

http://cjonline.com/sports/2011-09-06/austin-meek-imagining-frightening-future-big-east

That was the worst article I have ever read. Seriously, it's like he just trolled the Phog for talking points and put together that piece of garbage. Meek should just quit.

33662
Chip should understand that we had to schedule an extra conference game.

33663
I just can't see ND joining the big 10. I could see Texas and Notre Dame forming their own new conference that plucks teams from the big 10, though.

Something like:

Texas
Notre Dame
Pitt
Ohio State
Michigan
USC
UCLA
OU

33664
Let's say TX decides to go to the Big 10 (it's up to them, any conference would bend over for them) how long until Texas takes over the reigns of the conference from Ohio State?  I bet it's second year.

I'm just ready to see Nebraska find a way to let their Texas butthurt destroy yet another once great conference.

33665
TX board suggesting UT, MU, Pitt and ND to Big 10

I don't think the Big 10 wants Pitt. Why wouldn't they just add UT and ND?

33666
  :pbj: :pbj: :woot: :woot: Hate to say this but WE TOLD YOU MFER'S !!!! NU didn't trust UTerus and look what's happening to you now. Looks like the prom King is leaving all the ugly chicks behind.

I don't believe any one school bears more of the blame for the collapse of the Big 12 than Nebraska.

33667
I'm interested to hear Cap Crap's thoughts now. A few days ago he was confident we'd turn out ok. Now there's lot of reason to not be.

I'm starting to just want it to be over with.

What is the reason not to be?

Will we be in the same conference as MU after this is all over with?

33668
people think the big east is less stable because it will be picked apart when the big 10, sec, and acc decide they need more teams, none of which are us, with d's in h's, unstable.  could be.  wouldn't happen in pac 10.

I posted this earlier, but the two biggest powers (WVU and Pitt) aren't likely expansion candidates for the other conferences. Basically, you have UL, UC, USF, and TCU that are in no way going anywhere, Penn St. keeping Pitt out of the Big 10, and WVU not adding much in the way of TV's. Rutgers, Uconn and Syracuse could leave, but it there wouldn't be a conference that would take all 3 at the same time, so the conference would survive.

Basically, the conference members aren't desirable enough for significant poaching to take place.

why is everyone so sure the Big East will even offer us?

New market, gets 12 teams, championship game (maybe in the meadowlands? :surprised: )
KSU gives the Big East nothing as far as a new market goes.  They will gladly take KU and MU without us.  UCF or Memphis gives them a new market.

What does KU add in this scenario as far as "new market goes"?

The other half of the TVs in the KC metro that aren't watching MU.

So it is that simple? Because it isn't.

Looking beyond TV sets, KSU also adds compelling matchups with KU and MU along with a much larger football budget than UCF or Memphis.

yeah. all those people on the east coast are going to be getting geeked for that saturday morning kstate ku fball game.

In a year where both teams are actually good, they absolutely will be.

This is correct. The Big East doesn't have a problem with TV sets; they have a problem with not having any compelling matchups to turn on those tv sets. Picking up KU, K-State, and MU would be huge for them.

^ That's real?

jfc

I think he pulled it from the video. So it's not real in the sense of a physical banner being hung, but it is real in the sense that we show it on our jumbotron before kickoff.

33671
I would also welcome Iowa State into the Big East with us, but only on the condition that they bring back Eustachy.

33672
The Big Big East will get 37 NCAA tournement teams on average.  Half of the first round games are going to be Big Big East rematches.  We will laugh at all other conferences right in their stupid conference faces.

 :bball:

33673
Baylor has a better bball program. In the Big East, bball is king.

no doubt thats why i suggested memphis first but if you have to go for a texas team i would still take houston over baylor. sure they arent as good at basketball but "Houston–Sugar Land–Baytown, which is the sixth-largest metropolitan area in the U.S. of nearly 6 million people" "The Waco Metropolitan Statistical Area consists of McLennan County and has a 2007 estimated population of 224,668." Adding the largest city in texas and one of the largest cities in the US is better then anything baylor can bring to the table

Its a big stretch to say Baylor has a better basketball program anyway. Baylor has a more recent Elite 8 run, but as programs right now they are pretty equal.

Besides, it doesn't matter that basketball in the Big East is king, they are going to want the best football programs they can get to build up football in their conference. If we've learned anything by now, the status of your basketball program means very little in conference posturing.

Football may mean more in conference posturing, but the Big East will never be as good as the other conferences from a football standpoint. Also, I believe that basketball has been undervalued in all of this, and that Big East basketball could be incredibly lucrative, especially with KU basketball and a Big East Network. Houston adds more television sets, but I see Houston and Baylor basically as being a tie in terms of who we should pick up. Memphis would be better than both, imo. I would like to have Baylor though, just because they are our Big 12 brother.

33674
If the world were a fair place, Doc would be able to take his basketball team and join us in the Big East.

When I was a student we could actually sing the fight song in unison and do the KSU chant loudly. Today's students are just crap human beings. They are good for nothing.

When I was a student I entered the '00 Nubb game with 30 Keystones duct taped to my body under a snow suit.

You wouldn't be able to get that snowsuit past the metal detectors, nowadays.
