When I first read this thread title I thought you were referring to oscar as "The chicken nuggets". Would make a great nickname IMO.  :emawkid:

I think "General chicken nuggets" would be a little bit better.

Something tells me that rather than get chased off to some shitty program like South Carolina, Scott Drew will just take his slap on the wrist and continue to recruit like a monster and go to elite 8's.

Um................WTF was Colorado doing with their basketball court in 1993???  Is that a giant tomato splatter?

Oh and it looks like they have the octagon thingy that we have now. (Though theirs is out of necessity.)

It's still better than Nebraska's current court.

If she's 18, it shouldn't be illegal. The teacher should lose his job and everyone should hate him for it, but he shouldn't go to jail.

Even with the benefit of hindsight I have absolutely zero issues with the hiring of Ron Prince, and I'm glad we gave it a shot.

My biggest issue was that we could have hired an assistant coach with a bigger name, like Venables. I liked the high risk aspect of it, though, and Prince actually worked out better than I thought he would.

Ketchup has won most of the hot dog races I've seen. I've yet to see relish win once. Something tells me oscar won't change that.

30782
So the starting lineup could be Ziegler, Spradling, Ziegler, Diaz, and Ziegler?

30783
Is it possible that Frank was taking notes from the Massa and not letting JO shoot 3's so he wouldn't go pro?

Wait, I thought I was on the "edgy" board that hates OBz?

Plus, how could anyone Currie might hire to replace Snyder possibly be a bigger joke than Ron Prince?

::cognitive dissonance::   :sdeek:

I think Currie would take a long, hard look at Mike Sherman. Then he will interview 2 assistants nobody has heard of and decide to hire Sherman and hold his press conference on Super Bowl Sunday at 2:00.

How many Zieglers could we potentially have on the floor at one time? :excited:

i don't think I'm too far off when I say that oscar's Frank's "resurgence" in recruiting was strictly due to Jerrance Howard Dalonte Hill.  W/out howard Dalonte, oscar's Frank's recruiting was terrible.

Weber may be terrible.  He may not get the same results from average talent that Frank got.  Frank's signature.  But, let's call a spade a spade.  Frank's recruiting was not on par with a top 25-35 program without Dalonte.  Frank landed Robert Upshaw.  The single remarkable recruiting achievement in the post-dalonte era.

Other notables:  Gipson (3* #147), Diaz (3* 148), Rodriguez (3* NR).

Moral of the story, coaches need recruiters on staff.  Frank didn't have one at the end.  Weber had better have one or his time here will be short.  Pretty simple.

Frank did at the end and always has (obvious exceptions are the spring recruits) gotten players that fit what he wants for his program and just didn't collect stars.  I thought rusty did a beautiful job of conveying this, did you read it?  Dax liked to call them right fitters, whatever but oscar Weber at Illinois is the perfect example that fit is very important.

Ah, the "stars don't matter" argument. Badge worn proudly by tucks all across Kansas.

That wasn't his argument at all.

MYSTRANS!!!

Lost in all of this is who is getting oscar'd.  Only one scholarship to give and Moose is signed to an LOI.

Jamar and Vic are gone.  And Upshaw and Moose aren't coming. so, there's 2 ships.  Watson and Omari shouldn't be apartment shopping either.

Vic wasn't on an athletic scholarship, was he?

I thought there was only Jamar's to give, which was planned for Upshaw.  Somebody was going to have to get Franked for Moose.  Since Upshaw clearly isn't coming anymore, that currently goes to Moose, who signed an LOI.

Odds are Moose will get released from his LOI, which leaves one to give.  Hopefully they don't have to fill Angel's scholly.

Yeah, we only have one scholarship to give, assuming Moose doesn't show and nobody leaves.

I've seen some wonderlic questions before. Some of them are very easy. Some are sort of challenging, I guess. It seems like some of the questions are designed to trick you into thinking they are asking something different than what they are really asking. You just have to make sure you read the questions carefully. It's pretty easy to see how somebody with millions of dollars on the line could bomb the test due to nerves, and I really don't see why NFL teams care what the athletes score.

I say we make Currie sign off on Hawk as HCIW so we can get him on staff. Then, when OB retires, we treat him just like Currie did Underwood.

By Chingon's parameters there are very few, and even those that have seemingly had success haven't been at their current jobs long enough to see if that success is fleeting.  Sutton, Smith and now BCG getting fired from Kentucky are the best candidates for success but Smith is waning now at Minn, Sutton i think was fired more for the sanctions than performance, and BCG has a hard row to hoe at TTU.

The jury is still out on Lavin and Gottfried.

It is hard to find examples because the number of guys hired at major schools after being fired from one is so small. Of course this isn't news to anyone reading this thread.

I find it humorous, in a way, because people are claiming that Weber is a "safe" hire.  Well, it doesn't seem like too many major schools in the last 20 years or so have felt the idea was very safe.

I hope it works out.  I'm not against oscar.  I'm not going to root for him to fail.

Smith wasn't fired, but he was probably going to be.

If I had to guess, JC is crazy right wing religious and probably doesn't drink but probably does fap to weird porn all the time at home.

This....I knew a guy that worked for Cox when way back when.  He had interesting stories regarding the Wefald account.

At first I was like STOP WITHHOLDING DETAILS PEOPLE and then I realized I don't really want to know.

I'm sure it was those damned grandkids. Seriously, though, I don't know what Cox has to offer, but I kind of doubt their adult selection is all that weird.

30794
I think BCG is much better than Weber. His success at A&M trumps anything Weber has done. His failure at Kentucky was also nowhere near the level of failure Weber had at Illinois.

30795
Now it all makes sense to me.  Currie hires a coach.  Thus, his job is done.  Whether that coach is any good or not, is completely on that coach.

That is how it should work everywhere. Currie's job is to hire the coach and stay away from him. If he only would have done his job (stay away) with Frank, he wouldn't have had to make this shitty hire.

Currie should be fired. Weber should be retained. I hope he works out, but there just isn't any evidence that he will, and we shouldn't reward Currie for getting lucky with a shitty hire.

30796
If you land a crap load of highly rated players and can't make the tournament with them, you did a poor job recruiting.

Or, they were inexperienced freshmen.  If we had a team full of Angel's we wouldn't have been in the tourney.

Maybe he should have recruited a balanced team, then.

30797
Stan Heath just had a nice season by South Florida standards.

I think OSU will finish 3rd behind OU and Texas.

Bob Knight wasn't horrible at Texas Tech.

Doug Gottlieb*

*Note: Doug Gottlieb has never been fired. Also he hasn't had success after being fired. But he would have had success if K-State had hired him.

He did get kicked off of a team and then go on to find success. I have little doubt he could accomplish the same feat in the coaching ranks.
