I love Barnes, but I don't see legit NFL ability. I'd prefer to be wrong.
i don't think barnes gets drafted. he's not fast or elusive
but med school might work
local KC high school player jayden russell is busy on twitter trying to get every kansas high school target to go to kansas. he's trying to flip the lawrence kids and get corcoran and others to help build kansas.
i'd like to know what these other kids think about that

we stole him from coastal carolina his only other offer. and we wonder how our program got to where it is today
our competitors go 3-4 deep with ranked RB recruits. We not only can't get 1 of them we can't get anyone with another p5 offer

I'm no historian but i thought Osborne was successful not by doing what others did better but by doing what others didn't do better.
He made his legend by having better OLs and DLs than anyone else.
he filled in skill positions with handful of out of state elite athletes
as his dominance in the trenches increased he was able to attract better and better skill position players over time
He didn't need 6 4-star WRs he only needed 2
Boyd also pointed out that schools can not recruit TX high schools without a man on the inside. nobody will do that better than texas and Ok
the key to all this is having superior OLs and DLs than the competition.
Thats what NEB did and its what NDSU has done at their level.
I don't know how one would expect ksu to have better lines than other b12 schools

I am more than willing to see what this guy can do here, but make no mistake about it.......this coaching search has been a complete cluster eff and Gene is a huge dork.......only Klieman can save him now.

Lock this failure of a thread.

 :dubious:

What part of the search was a cluster? The fans' conjecture and straw grasping?

We paid a search firm for assistance in finding a head coach only to hire the AD's buddy.
apparently so. there is just too much going on here to not believe that others didn't walk away from us. the whole thing is unbelievable. I hope he succeeds.
without some new recruiters i don't see how he can.
the ksu recruiters are not very good. his recruiters are not very good. the only thing that makes this work is if he makes a couple NEW hires that catapults recruiting. and i don't see that happening

Are they visible from space?  Or more manageable to where he can haul them around in a wheel barrow like Randy in that south park episode?

Either way, I give two of these:   to the guy who told a sizeable portion of KSU's fanbase: You don't know what you're talking about, I'm just gonna get a guy to win championships and sorry if it hurts or fragile little feelings in the meantime.
big balls or no other choice?
its very possible Snyder made this hire

We might assemble the whitest staff of all time.
past KSU staffs already hold that record
he needs 2 DL coaches who are african american and have ties to the best recruiting territories
and now we have extra money to entice some

i really don't mind him as the head coach
I'm WAY more concerned about how we attract players.
if kleiman didn't have a plan for a MAJOR improvement in recruiting then he should not have been hired
and if his plan was to retain the same coaches that ksu has and ndsu has that don't recruit well enough for us to compete then he should not have been hired.
no coach should be hired that doesn't have a recruiting plan to significantly improve the athletes at ksu
we really don't need x and os
we need jimmy and joes
if taylor didn't use that as his primary reason for hiring then he should be fired as soon as we can

Ian Boyd sure loves him some Klieman as a great fit for KSU.  :dunno:
you could probably talk me into klieman if he kept the handful of good assistants from ksu the best ones from his staff and then announced a couple of shockingly awesome hires as additional assistants with the money we saved from hiring him.
klieman could lead and we would have a great group of assistants to go recruit.
but all that kind of depends on finding and hiring those wildcard assistants who would help turn recruiting upside down

agreed
tim fitz has a pic of neal brown and a headline search nearing end this morning

If Gene is a real boss -- and I hope he is -- he shouldn't give a eff about any dumbass email campaign, but make whatever move he thinks will equate to the most wins and best program going forward. He shouldn't give a crap about how short of a leash fans give him or his new hire either. The only people he should have to sway are the big donors (also just as dumb as the majority of general fans when it comes to what it takes to run an AD or football program) in order to convince them to open up their wallets.

Its not an email campaign... Its the overall fan temperature. Which i will tell you is very COLD on CK. FACT... .. Board approved his contract... Contract not offered...Because of the fans = Fan backlash
what u are describing is someone who had no idea who he was going to hire until this week.
i refuse to believe that Taylor just figured out that Kleiman might not be a popular hire.
he has had a year to get ready for this and consider all angles
there should be little or nothing left to consider unless he was ill prepared
ANYONE would have considered a candidates popularity before interviewing. he doesn't need a bunch of bozos to tell him a FCS coach would not be exciting. he already knows that

The greatest thing to come out of this is the ND people throwing a fit because we don’t think their shitty coach is good and demanding that we want to steal him.

We're just educating you but like 5 years ago when we said we were going to come and kick your asses... you arent listening.

CK has ndsu at a historic ranking in the sagarin.  Ranked 15th in the recent.  10 pt favorites over oregon, 12 over Memphis and 22(lol) over that turd from north texas.

"Butbut he doesn't know how to budget a p5 budget.. butbut he doesn't know how to fill suites". eff out of here with that lolol.
does anybody give a rats ass about a sagarin rating?
We want to win games; be competitive against the elite teams and occasionally win a league trophy
i don't think a sagarin rating is in my top 100 desires from a fb program
if we didn't know from the outset who the next coach was going to be then remind me why we ran off Snyder?
also, i would also like to propose that our current set of assistants is probably superior to any set of assistants these candidates could bring.
so which is more important to the success of a program? A single coach= head coach or several coaches=the assistants
if we can't get a top HC then maybe we should try to make sure we have the best assistants we can get which just might be the ones we have
Fans of good teams look at it because it provides hypothetical analysis when comparing teams.

Fans of bad teams dont give a crap about it or don't even put it in their top 100 of reasons to hire a coach because they're losers who are used to losing so they don't know what winners do.
hey bro how many B12 championships has NDSU won?
how many New Years Days bowls have they won?
how many times have they beaten OU or texas or USC or michigan?
NDSU fans care about sagarin because they don't play big boy football and their fans like to hypothesize and dream.
KSU doesn't need sagarin because we actually play the games
rankings are for losers
the only ranking that matters is CFP final 4
every other ranking only matters to make fans feel good about a team that is not in the final 4
you can have you sagarin ranking
i'll go for a B12 championship trophy instead

NDSU has kids currently on team that have turned down offers from:
Iowa
Missouri
Purdue
Minnesota
Boise State.

Klieman can recruit, he has a system that is successful and would work at Kansas State.
his team would finish near the bottom of the B12. most of his players would not get a scholarship in the B12. he doesn't recruit in the homes he needs to

Kansas State Football / Re: goEMAW SOURCES: WHAT WE KNOW, WHEN WE KNOW IT
« on: December 08, 2018, 10:14:56 PM »

To be clear,  I believe he can coach....but he sure as hell can't recruit......with a roster devoid of talent,  this is a big long term problem,  which,  if played out,  will lead to a bottom feeder team looking for a miracle........again
He has clearly outrecruited his peers, as well as programs a level or two above him.

https://trib.com/news/local/why-are-football-recruits-choosing-north-dakota-state-over-wyoming/article_beb04429-3206-5e12-bcb4-b659f8929412.html
so your argument is that he can out recruit Wyoming in Big Sky country?...do you realize the level of athlete it takes to compete with OU and Texas? ...Jesus rough ridin' Christ  :jerk:

I don't expect any coach at KSU to outrecruit Texas or Oklahoma, I expect him to compete for recruits with Oklahoma State and Iowa State and West Virginia
well CK never has come close to those schools....so your plan is to come to the middle of Kansas and win with 2 star athletes from here to Canada?.....so 27 years later of winning in the Big 8/12 and fan + sonar investments well over a Billion dollars, you are asking the collective we to Believe in magic?

Those schools aren't his peers now. He has recruited well against his peers. Do you think it takes magic to go from recruiting 2 and 3 stars to recruiting 3 and 4 stars? Do you think a sales pitch to a kid from Minnesota is significant different than a salad pitch to a kid from Oklahoma.
i think trying to sell a kid who has few, if any, P5 offers to choose the best FCS program in america instead of some other FCS program is pretty easy.
it is not even remotely similar to selling a kid to go to KSU instead of TCU, Tech, missouri, ISU, or OU.
you see CK has never recruited the kids he will need to be able to recruit to ksu.

Brown, Novell, LittreLL

All check same amount of boxes
I'm still confused as to why we would ask Snyder to retire before we had our dream coach lined up?
did we really just start the search this week?
if thats the case something really was wrong with the program that it needed change with no prior plan

Managing 85 scholarships over 65, managing a much larger organization, a much larger budget, there's 50K tickets to sell, there's 70 suites to fill, there's 3000 high dollar stadium club seats to fill.

You're not game planning against Colgate, you're game planning against guys who are standing up on the podium in NYC.  Make fun of B12 D's all you want.   OU will get better, Texas will get better.  It's game planning for 9 plus weeks straight to play P5 teams.

NDSU beat K-State, beat Iowa State, beat Iowa . . . good for them, but each of those programs has proven they can crap the bed to nearly anybody on any given Saturday, and they've proven it repeatedly.  My gawd Drake was beating Iowa State for a lot of the game.

It aint the same.
if your bragging rights are you beat ksu once and isu once then you really have never accomplished much in college fb

345
This is tough for me to admit after being so cunty in this thread but we suck. I’m not sure how given what appears to be so much talent but we do.
why do u think ksu has a lot of talent? none of them have ever been good shooters. none of them have ever been good dribblers.
there is zero talent in the front court. none
we play 4 guards who all can't shoot
we have no strengths all weaknesses
a win against creighton last yr and a win against kentucky made everyone forget what this team really is

We have two preseason 1st team all big 12 players and the preseason player of the year.  Plus Xavier Sneed and probably the best juco PF on the market last spring in Trice.  Will be interesting to see what oscar tries to get this team to play better but they are complete ass right now.
LOL bro
we all know Wade was/is not deserving of that distinction. He wouldn't even be a starter at KU
Brown has always been overrated because of a handful of good games where the ball actually goes in. but those are not very common
Trice is fine but again not really a piece that was needed as much as an elite scorer
Trice may be example of why most schools don't recruit juco unless they are a completely freaky scorer

:Woot:

embrace it
you should be privileged to receive  a legend
kleimann = more of the same crap i.e. shitty recruiting and huge losses against the good teams. but we'll be well coached losing team
His current team would beat ours

Beatty would have beat us on a neutral field, let’s hire him.
That's a pretty bad argument, the fact that NDSU would dominated KSU is just one factor of many on the list of reasons Klieman is worth the risk.

Rusty 12.7:  get the best recruiter possible
Rusty: 12.8:  the fcs guy is worth the risk!
if we had all the best players we wouldn't really need much of a coach.
not sure why ksu isn't more strategic in acquiring people who can get them players
i guess because so many people think because snyder is moderately successful compared to others that we don't need talent
if u look at snyders record against top 20 teams it looks pretty similar to any team at the bottom of their league

I'm sure our president wouldn't mind a coach from the military. That army guy seems pretty cool.
maybe that could be our brand.
A&M seems to get good recruits with all their cadet stuff
