Scott Frost and Fred Hoiberg is a salty combo of men’s revenue sports coaches
was hoiberg not a highly desired college coach? I'm surprised he took the NU job when i thought he could do a lot better.

and i will add this to the disappointment. at both neb and OU Corcoran will have to get in line to play.
both those schools won't have an opening at his position during his freshman season and both will have multiple players at his position on the depth chart ahead of him his sophomore year.
there may not be a better opportunity for an OT to play early as kansas state presents. Both OT positions will be open when corcoran arrives and KSU has almost NO true OTs on their entire roster.
the contrasts in opportunity to play early could not be any greater btw the programs he is choosing from.
so if he does end up at one of those schools as predicted he did so accepting the fact that he chose a much more difficult and risky path to playing time.
in other words he really didn't consider ksu very strongly

If I put myself in the shoes of Corcoran and/or his parents....I would be leaning out of state as well.  I have offers from some of the best football schools around the country.  Staying in state means taking a chance on a school who has a handful of conference wins in the last 10+ years, or a team that just retired a legendary coach and is taking a risk on a Div III newbie.  It also means risking NFL future by playing for these two lower-tiered teams.

I also don't fault this new staff for not landing him.  It will take a couple back-to-back successful seasons to get strong consideration from talent like that...even in state.
1. players are not risking their NFL future by going to a school like KSU. Klieman has more NFL OL than Frost. Risner is predicted to go higher in the draft than any OU OL.
2. Corcoran is rumored to lean to NEB. they have worse seasons recently than ksu and fewer trophies in last 20 years.
3. if he goes to neb it won't have anything to do with any of those reasons. most the recruits pick a school either for its winning ways or because they like the coaches better. in NEB case they aren't winning so one can conclude its mainly his liking of their coaching staff. most the recruiting experts say liking the coaches is the main reason kids pick a school
4.Frost and his staff are very popular with recruits. i'm not sure if its cockiness or what i've heard recruits say he does great job of painting a picture of the recruits future in his schemes.
5. i would understand if he picks OU but losing out to neb means we just flat out got out recruited. and thats disappointing.

i don't think Brown playing in the first half would have mattered. either he is hurt or he is in a slump but he is a LONG ways from a first team all conference player. he isn't really even that lock down on defense.
on most good teams his offensive deficiencies would result in him coming off the bench. he had some moments this year offensively but can't consistently or even occasionally reproduce them.
not sure how much his shooting % increased over 4 years but i'm guessing not a lot.

For the record, I think he's fine and he's progressing, which is great. At this point my biggest issue with Mak are people who overstate his impact and who call him the key to next season. He's a replacement level center who needs to stop turning the ball over.
on a good team Mak needs to be a reserve not a starter. thats his biggest problem

hoping its Pauls not Berry. not saying berry isn't worthy of a schollie but Pauls has a lot of offers from some pretty good programs. i think he is the bigger fish from that group listed.
I'm starting to wonder if they know Corcoran is going elsewhere. ksu coaches have offered a lot of OTs recently

we're always going to offer more OTs than OGs. The staff still emphasize versatility across the line, and it's much easier to take a HS OT and turn them into a guard or center than it is to take a HS OG and turn them into a tackle.
agreed and the previous staff struggled mightily attracting OT types having to use OGs in their spot.
doesn't change the situation with Corcoran. News from other programs is he is heading out of state. I had really hoped this staff could change this scenario around with the best local kids all leaving.

To be fair I didn’t watch any Bruceketball at all this year but who the eff wanted us ranked?   Yikes.

Lol, K-State wins that game by double digits with the same team a month ago.

Barry was different the last few weeks, and of course this is a completely different team without Dean.

Probably top 15-20 when both are healthy.
shows you the overall lack of talent on the roster when missing 1 player completely changes the team. it is not a talented roster. Weber doesn't appear capable of attracting enough talent to be consistently good. only good enough to be pretty good every 4-5 years when we are loaded up with seniors.

Too much adversity
too little talent
none of our players were recruited by anybody of any bball significance. weber has probably over achieved based on the recruiting profile of his players.
he does not have any offensive skill on the roster

This kid should help.  DaJuan Gordon plays in Peoria tonight.

4A: Belleville West (32-4) vs. Curie (34-1), 7:15 p.m.
The game of the weekend. The Belleville West Maroons are the defending Class 4A state champions and the Chicago Curie Condors are the state’s current top-ranked team.
“It’s going to sell tickets,” Curie coach Mike Oliver said. “I love the challenge and we got it. I told the guys if you want to be the best we have to go down there and beat Belleville West.”
Both teams are experienced and have star power. For Belleville West it is EJ Liddell, an Ohio State recruit and the reigning Mr. Basketball. For Curie it is DaJuan Gordon, the Sun-Times Player of the Year and Kansas State recruit.

i hope Gordon is a star but he was our 2nd or 3rd choice and not recruited by big boys
Seriously, 4 star and Chicago Player of the Year.  Murphy pushing for best player in Houston.
seriously being named chicago player of the year or houston's best player don't mean anything. they are certainly NOT the caliber of players of previous winners of those honors. these players are fine but would be bench players at the blue bloods and were not heavily recruited despite these honors. and as i said we didn't go after gordon hard until we lost out on others first

Our chances of getting a big haul of the top kansas kids just took a big hit
u better prepare yourself to be disappointed again with recruiting. i'm not all that down about Thomas because i think we can actually do better than him but it is a hit to our in state aspirations.
But it looks like the real big fish Turner Corcoran is going to leave the state too. He seems enthralled with nebraska coaches and OU coaches too.
i think he has a better relationship with them and both Riley and Frost are known as two of the best recruiters in america while we have a first time D1 coach.
I think KSU will be lucky if they can grab the next best OL Hayden Pauls and a couple others.
its going to look about like what every previous year looked like in state.
the elite kids are all going out of state again.

literally half our roster should not have a D1 scholarship. without Wade, Stokes, Brown this would be the worst roster in the league BY FAR.
is there some reason oscar isn't running off all these guys? Love, Shadd, Stockard should be run off and oscar should be giving those spots to some new recruits.
we are going to the bottom of the league in a hurry. These last place recruiting classes are going to catch up to us after these seniors leave. its a completely empty cupboard

Jerome Tang Coaches Kansas State Basketball / Re: YOU GUYS

we might still beat WVU and OSU without Wade but i would call it 55/45 that we would.
our talent is not that much better than either of those teams and all it would take would be an above average shooting night from either of those teams or below average for KSU for us to lose 1 or both of those games.
without wade they will be nail biters.
im not sure people realize how absolutely horrid our bench is. i don't think we have another big other than mawein who would be on any other school's bball roster. anywhere.
diarra is really the only bench player who we don't lose a lot when we put him on the floor.
mcguirl, williams and stockard are atrocious. I'm really not sure if mawein would be given a scholarship by any other program in this league

mak is one of the worst offensive bigs i have ever seen. AND he plays below the rim.
has 75 % of his shots blocked which is hard to do when you are 6'10"

So Rivals has us tied with KU in class ranking and 247 has us 2 spots higher.     :billdance:
based on rankings KU had a higher average recruit ranking than us. They got the defensive player of the year from TX who was 4 star recruit.
they got 2 recruits who were previously committed to KSU.
But they hired an assistant from Tech which basically got them 2 of their best recruits who followed him to KU.
KSU didn't hire any assistants who brought players with them unless we count our new DL coach with Pola-Mao.
next year when Tech doesn't fire their coaches and michigan doesn't castoff one of their recruits, KU won't get players by hiring the assistants from their school of choice.
they will have to earn it

We just  landed this stud

https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2019/thomas-grayson-211107#school-interests
I never know how accurate those offer lists are, but if it's correct, it's a nice one.
neb told grayson he probably would get lost in numbers inside their RB room. the story is he decommitted but NEB signed 3 other RBs who were ranked significantly higher than Grayson. Their starter  is only a soph too. They have all the numbers and quality they need.
the only schools still actively recruiting grayson was tulsa and byu

294
The only thing that's really unfortunate about this is that it happened prior to NSD.

Yea I think they told Gavin Potter and Tyrone Lewis a few days ago, I think wilson stays but Potter never felt like he wanted to come here.
hopefully the current commits stay with us i don't understand why players commit because of a single coach anyway. but none of these recruits is irreplaceable.
i'd like to have Potter if the coaches want Potter but i'm hoping we could find someone just as good or better next year with more time. most these recruits are players that the snyder regime recruited and we all know what our talent level is as a result. i think this class is more of the same unfortunately

295
Knowing our luck he'll become the next BV and we'll beg him to come back and he'll snuff us cause we snuffed him.

Huge hit to our recruiting as well.
i thought our recruiting sucked? i know seller was considered one of our best recruiters but what is that really saying? he's the best of the bad?

absolutely a good sign that they're putting effort in on him, and getting him as an official visit the weekend before signing day. no expectation that he'll switch from OU but it's a refreshing change to even be trying.
whats the story on the poly DT from AZ? every other school dropped off him. i'm guessing he's not qualifying? are we just trying to build a relationship for after juco?

there's a gigantic DT from Rockhurst visiting this weekend. he's apparently a silent OU commit so it would be a v big deal to switch him.

Pretty sure he is an OL tho right?

oops yes OL

Watch this guy play in person and watched his tape. The dude is a beast. Remind me of Cornelius Lucas.
the kid seems all in on OU. Interacting with all the OU recruits every day on twitter. Would be quite an accomplishment if ksu pulled a miracle. they are probably wasting their time but glad they trying.
i don't know what Riley says to recruits but they freaking love OU.

if we pull the big DT from arizona i will be very impressed
so will everyone else given the fact that all the other schools recruiting him quit recruiting him. not sure what the issue is but grades comes first to mind.
he was supposed to be going to nebraska but they dropped him at the last minute alone with USC and ASU.

i'm very impressed at how the staff is getting after it.  amazing what happens when an effort is made.

They sure as hell are trying harder.  We will know how elite they are at recruiting at the end of 2020 class.   If they can get the top 5 Kansas guys to all play here, the big 12 will be on notice.
nobody outside KS really gives a crap about any of the recruits from the state of kansas except Corcoran. IF KSU can keep Corcoran somehow than we can talk about putting other programs on alert. But many already think he is destined for OU or NU which would signal more of the same

So OU bball has some of the shittiest attendance i've ever seen even when they have a decent team. other than the year Hield was a senior they haven't been all that good. How does Lon Kruger continue to sign a bunch of studs almost every year? i don't get it.
kruger is a little bit of a name around here for obvious reasons but outside of KS i don't think kids really know who he is. does he have some assistants who have pipelines to kids thru relationships?
i dont understand with the tradition and better atmosphere why Weber shouldn't be out recruiting Kruger
