I'm not 100% certain you are aware of this but it's hot as hell right now and we are having tornados like a mother rough rider.

Case closed, folks. It's well known that the weather of the continental US is perfectly representative of global climate. Case. Closed.

the libs here have been disgusting in their reaction to this. not surprised.

I'm sorry, do you really want credit for not acting like these assclowns? As Chris Rock would say, libs are always wanting credit for stuff they're supposed to do.

Some of us grew up without Fox News.  Some of us didn't believe the socialist propoganda from ABC, NBC, CBS and PBS.  We learned to think on our own without being indoctrinated by some teacher(s) in High School or College.  We learned by studying and coming to our own conclusions.  We don't need Fox News as we haven't needed it in the past either.  We know that Socialism has never and will never work in the long run, because we are smart enough to understand simple math and operating in the negative can't be sustained for the long run.  We know through studying history that Socialism can be National (Fascism) or can become Communist and either directions have resulted in the murder of 100's of millions and the continued murder, tortue and tyranny of people in Cuba and China among others.  We don't need the talking points, because we understand the belief in a republic government that is limited and capitalism, though flawed is the best form of government and economic system.

We know you can't think on your own and you need ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, PBS, Newsweek, Time, NY Times, KC Star, insert City Paper here, The Daily Show and your Government to tell you what to think and do at all times.
What did your comparative studies teach you about unbridled capitalism?  Did it teach you about the Gilded Age, robber barons, and rampant greed?  Did it teach you about the Great Strike of 1877?  Were you able to see how the accumulation of wealth among fewer and fewer people generates societal issues?

Funny how "progressives" always seem to be looking backwards. Apparently, we need massive government and "social justice" because, otherwise, we're going to return to Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle."

Global warmers $600 million, skeptics $4.4 million
February 27, 2012 by Don Surber

Among the many, many myths of the crackpot global warming theory is that there is this huge cartel of carbon companies which is financing studies that debunk global warming, reminiscent of tobacco company-funded research in the 1950s. The truth is, global warming is where the money is. Not only are governments pouring millions into grants to “prove” global warming — after all, higher taxes is the only “solution” ever offered — but liberal organizations are pouring hundreds of millions of dollars into this.

The folks at EU Referendum did the math. The Heartland Institute has an annual budget of $4.4 million. Recently Peter Gleick, a global warming hero, cyber-attacked Heartland in an attempt to discredit Heartland. What they cannot prove with science, they make up for in attacks and bullying. But Heartland’s budget is puny.

From EU Referendum:

The Climate Works Foundation, though, is of special interest as it was in 2008, awarded $460,800,000 from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, a grant-making organization with assets of $7.2 billion, which disbursed $353,400,000 in grants in 2011. It has made another grant to Climate Works only last week of $100 million -– bringing the total grants to this organization to just short of $600 million.

Where such huge funding is devoted to global warming advocacy, and policy development, there must indeed be a distortion of the democratic process, especially where politicians are also being paid. These organizations must come clean about the sources of their money, and provide exact details of how much is paid to which organizations, for what purposes.

Skeptics are overwhelmed by proponents. Skeptics have only science to offer — not fairy tales about Big Carbon being the new Big Tobacco.

From Richard Siegmund Lindzen, 72, an atmospheric physicist at MIT:

Our recent work on the early faint sun may prove particularly important. 2.5 billion years ago, when the sun was 20% less bright (compared to the 2% change in the radiative budget associated with doubling CO2), evidence suggests that the oceans were unfrozen and the temperature was not very different from today’s. No greenhouse gas solution has worked, but a negative cloud feedback does. You now have some idea of why I think that there won’t be much warming due to CO2, and without significant global warming, it is impossible to tie catastrophes to such warming. Even with significant warming it would have been extremely difficult to make this connection.

Perhaps we should stop accepting the term, ‘skeptic.’ Skepticism implies doubts about a plausible proposition. Current global warming alarm hardly represents a plausible proposition. Twenty years of repetition and escalation of claims does not make it more plausible. Quite the contrary, the failure to improve the case over 20 years makes the case even less plausible as does the evidence from climategate and other instances of overt cheating. In the meantime, while I avoid making forecasts for tenths of a degree change in globally averaged temperature anomaly, I am quite willing to state that unprecedented climate catastrophes are not on the horizon though in several thousand years we may return to an ice age

The bad guys always seem to outnumber us — at the beginning.

I don't hate the Daily Show or Colbert Report - I like the Daily Show. I just hate people who "get their news" from the Daily Show or Colbert Report. I mean, honestly, are you not aware how stupid that sounds to get your news from Comedy Central? Probably not. It is really, really stupid.

The iphone's (somewhat) smaller size is actually attractive to me.  Every other top end phone is like the size of a freakin' kindle now.

I think Apple could probably make the screen a bit bigger without increasing the size of the phone. I expect they'll do just that when the new version comes out.

Liberals:

The problem is clearly that certain people are successful and make a lot of money and we need to figure out why those people were able to be successful and make money and do everything in our power to inhibit that going forward, because we prefer that everyone rely on the dole of the federal government so we can expand our power at all cost, even if that cost ultimately needs to bankrupting the country in which case the poor and elderly will suffer greatly, but we don't care because right now there are more people living off the government than those contributing to it, so lets make up lies and rhetoric and convince those lazy stupid people who can't care for themselves that we can make the successful and rich by taxing those that are successful and rich.

Conservatives:

The problem isn't that we enable so many stupid lazy people, although that's certainly the root of the problem, it's that the US Government is fiscally and mathematically incapable of generating enough tax revenue to support the welfare state we've allowed to be created, therefore we need to create a bunch of anti-abortion and anti-immigration laws and try and win elections with our hands tied behind our backs.

Brain dead idiots, all of them.

You do know a lot of those rich and successful people take more tax payer money than any welfare recipient ever did?

Is this where we get to the argument that "that guy's business wouldn't exist without public roads," or are we talking about farm subsidies again? It's tough to keep up with the lib's humorous efforts to paint the rich as a drag on the welfare system.

I know for a fact that this was not what lsoc was getting at....

Correct.  I am a conservative.  I am against rough ridin' crooks/thieves who masquerade as businessmen.  I am completely for legit business being left alone by gov.  In fact I push for it every day.

I agree. Hate "crony capitalism."

I've got a 4s on AT&T. Mostly use WiFi for data, so I don't really care about 4G. About my only complaint is that the screen size is a bit behind the times.

However depicting a prophet in any context is forbidden within Islam.  Depicting that prophet as a terrorist is sure to piss people off.

How many modern religions consider blasphemy a capitol crime?

I hear you.

But it is not like Islam is the only religion that has a fanatical sect.  Pat Robertson is a fracking lunatic who has called for the assasination of political figures.  Numerous devout Christians have killed abortion providers in the name of god.  Phil Jensen of South Dakota introduced a bill that would make the killing of an abortion provider legal.  The Huratee of Michigan, a christian paramilitary group were and are prepared to kill law enforcement in the name of god.

There are bound to be fanatics in any group, but "radical" Christianity isn't nearly as widespread as radical Islam, and you know it. Liberals just sound Fake Sugar Dick (WARNING, NOT THE REAL SUGAR DICK!) when they draw these false equivalencies.

I agree that currently radical Christianity in no way an apples to apples comparison with radical Islam.   However, the point does remain that believers of any faith can easily become barbaric when provided a moral/spiritual justification.  Whether it be abortion or gay rights or perceived/ real imperialism or offences against religious sites/artifacts.

Pat Robertson may be correct in terms of machivellian politic.  However as a man of the cloth it is pretty cracking nuts to call for the murder of a man on national tv.

Right, but that doesn't seem like much of a point when one group is far worse than the other.

Also, if you need to buy a mount or cables for your new TV, go to monoprice.com. Really good stuff for very little money.

this is why that part of the world is doomed to failure.  If you can't have critical discourse you're mumped as a society.  I mean these Korans were supposedly used by prisoners to pass notes.  Why isn't the population protesting prisoners using their holy book as a prison kite?

Which reminds me, remember when Tim Robbins hollowed out his Bible to hide the rock pick? I don't know about you, but I went rough ridin' apeshit.

Remember when that artist put Jesus in a jar of piss? How many died in those riots? I know I shot a couple of local artists.

And then there were the beheadings when that artist covered the Virgin Mary in cowshit. Those were the days...

I know Arabs are pretty nuts, but our occupation of them isnt helping anything. If China occupied the US for a decade and starting bombing us with robots and pissing on our dead people and burning our bibles  i imagine some people here would lose it too.

Theres no justification for anything the crazy Arabs do, im just saying we're not helping very much. The war on terror has been an absolute disaster.

I agree. I wish Bush had never just woken up one fine (September) morning and decided to start a war on terror.

Seriously though, I'm not saying I'd like it, but I might understand China bombing us with Robots if our government gave sanctuary and abetted a group of folks that murdered 2,000 Chinese civilians. I mean, in theory. It would probably need to be a lot more than 2,000 for China to care in the first place.

I understand this and agree to an extent. We have to realize that a countries government and its people are not mutually inclusive. So 99% of the people there have nothing to do with providing sanctuary for the taliban. They're just goat and opium farmers minding their own business. These same people who 10 years ago couldnt find the USA on a map now hate our guts and will kill for simple, petty things like burning books.

In a perfect world i think the war on terror could have worked, but we have to be honest with ourselves in that we're not going anybody any good over there.

You may be right, to an extent, but who really knows? We've done a great deal of good for the Afghans. These "protestors" may not represent the overall population. More likely, I'd say, they're just Taliban goons. The whole controversy over the Mohamad cartoons, for example, was ginned up by extremist clerics.

Great decision on your refi. How much was the fee?

I refi'd 6 months ago to a 15yr at 3.4% APR. Could have gotten 3.25, but I took the slightly higher APR in exchange for a "lender credit" that offset basically all my closing costs. My monthly payment only increased by about 10%, but I've nearly doubled the amount of each payment that goes to principal. Silver lining of a shitty economy.

just over $1k for all closing costs.

Nice.

Wow this thread has taken a frighteningly disturbing and disgusting twist for the resident libs

True colors really showing through. Scary how these sub-humans think. Like little Hitler minions.

Also, the new lib sox on this board are really really dull.

The liberal thought process with respect to abortion is pretty revolting. It's really not good for anyone to engage in a "debate" on the subject.
