then why didn't Bush fix it? did he not have republican majorities in both houses?

You're dodging. Pointing backward doesn't fix the problem, though, of course Republicans have been guilty of profligate pork and spending, and did not make serious efforts to fix entitlements (because they were terrified of the "third rail") in the past.

What matters is what the two parties are presently doing. At least some Republicans are now willing to tackle these issues. The Democrats would rather play politics.

Just tell me who to cheer for to make this ridiculously impossible scenario at least 1% possible.

Baylor.
OSU.
Cal.
Notre Dame.
SMU.
Tulsa.
Michigan (but only this Saturday)
Iowa.
Ohio State.

That should do it.

It is both hilarious and telling that the Democrats rushed to embrace these protests as their version of the Tea Party.  It says a lot about the Democratic Party and its socialist base.

These "protests" are pretty much nothing more than the same collection of assholes who show up to protest at the Gx summits. "Waaa, waaa, its the BANKS' fault I can't get a job" (that pays me what I feel I deserve for my liberal arts degree). "It's those GREEDY CORPORATIONS that crashed the economy!"

Tip to the Occupiers: Why don't you start protesting the government that subsidized and promoted the reckless lending practices that resulted in the housing bubble and crash? Wasn't the government at least equally responsible for this mess, if not more so?

Even if the Nubbs win out, there is no way in hell they sneak into a BCS at-large spot with 2 losses (including Northwestern at home?!) and without even winning their division.

Everyone needs to root for Michigan this weekend just to ensure they stay the eff out.

A 10-2 NU team that's got even a remotely legitimate claim to a BCS invite could get it due to the 85,000 tickets they'd buy at $500 a pop.

Then, by that logic, wouldn't Michigan be in just as good a position to snag an at-large if they beat NU? The Big 10 is not going to get 2 teams into the BCS this year. Not going to happen. There isn't any room for them. The SEC gets a bid. So will the Big 12. So will Houson or some other underserving non-AQ team. You're basically saying NU or Michigan would go instead of Stanford?

what decision can the President make to answer this question?  why haven't republicans made this simple difficult decision to fix deficit spending?
god forbid we attempt to get both sides together to find a long term solution

 :bang:

I think the President could take a stand, rather than hiding behind a committee, and announce significant entitlement reforms, which anybody who can actually do math understands is the greatest threat to our fiscal situation. Instead, he spends his time banging the class warfare drum of "the rich need to pay their fair share and, oh, by the way, its their fault for this crummy economy."

As for your question "why haven' republicans made the simple difficult decision to fix deficit spending," you've got to be kidding me. Did you see the House budget? The Ryan plan? It is the Democratic Senate, and the previosuly-Dem controlled House, which failed to pass a budget AT ALL. President Obama's most recent proposed budget (rejected by the Senate 97-0) actually INCREASED spending. You are delusional. The Republicans are at least trying to address entitlement reform, while the Democrats continue to play their class warfare politics, releasing ads showing Paul Ryan wheeling grandma off a cliff, etc.

From KC Star:

Quote
Added Fiesta Bowl spokesperson Kristen Pflipsen: “We are still considering K-State for the Fiesta Bowl. A lot of things would have to happen for that to become reality. But that is not out of the question. We’ve always had a really positive experience with the Wildcats.”

So, in other words, K-State needs to win out, and OU needs to lose 2 more. That's fine, I'll take the Cotton Bowl.

Look, between the SEC, Pac 12, Big 12, Big 10, and ACC, only 3 of them are going to get an at-large bid. And is anyone here seriously suggesting that the Big 12 will get left out? How many teams does each conference have in the current BCS Top 15?
- SEC: 5
- Big 12: 3
- Pac 12: 2
- ACC: 2
- Big 10: 1 (MSU at number 15)

The Big 12 and SEC are definitely getting at-large bids.

Even if the Nubbs win out, there is no way in hell they sneak into a BCS at-large spot with 2 losses (including Northwestern at home?!) and without even winning their division.

Did he also ask the Dems to "bite the bullet" on entitlement reform?

CK can't win the Heisman, but he could be a finalist if he has good numbers against Texas and puts us back in the Top 10.

My question is if we get the cotton if we lose to TX and beat ISU.  TX losing to MU has to help us here.  We will have lost the head to head with TX but I see them dropping at least one of @Baylor and @aTm.  Does a 2 loss OU still get into the BCS?  At large bids in order?:

It's pretty simple. SEC, Pac 12, and Big 12 will each get an at-large bid, plus Houston or Boise for the 4th. The Big 12 at-large will be between OU and K-State. I don't see any realistic scenario where the Big 12 doesn't snag an at-large bid.

If K-State beats Texas, then it will be interesting to see whether OU or K-State, both 10-2, goes to Fiesta. Probably OU.

If K-State loses to Texas, then 10-2 OU definitely goes to Fiesta, and K-State maybe goes to Cotton. Remember, even though K-State will probably finish with a better record than Texas, the Big 12 bowls don't have to pick by record. Cotton could very well decide to take an 8-4 Texas over a 9-3 K-State.

Needless to say, it is very important that we beat Texas to ensure the Cotton Bowl, and keep our hopes alive for Fiesta. If not, San Antonio wouldn't be so bad.

I fracking exhausted.  Game completely drained me.  Then I was up till 3 rewatching the tape, getting ready for Butler.  It's hard work, but our boys will be ready.

If we get to the FF, the Hawks could also bitch that we haven't beaten a single major-conference opponent to get there.  Kind of tough to make that argument when you lose in the second round to one of those lesser mid-majors, though.

Moving to Overland Park and looking for advice on cable providers.  Looks like SureWest is cheaper, but I want a nice DVR.  Anybody know what model HD-DVRs SureWest and Time Warner use?  Other thoughts on these providers would also be appreciated.

The Orange are playing some scary basketball right now without Onuaku, so I don't think it's gonna make much difference.  We've just gotta keep rolling.
