Still can't believe we held onto him after Baylor started getting serious about him. Dude is just a physical freak.

Shane's a really good dude. I could see how you'd think someone was douchey tho if others were polarized by said individual. I'd probably leave him out of your Fitz stories other than he's mesmerized by pretty ppl.

Touchey, touchey. ;). You are prob right, he may be a good dude. But he was super douchey that night. Ha. But premise of story was more about Fitz just being a complete slob

The one interaction i had with Fitz was bizarre and kinda sad, like the 'jesus, that guy is kind of a pathetic slob ' sad. Anyways, think it was @KatHouse one night, prob around RP/FM first year era. He was hanging out with his general crew of college aged lackeys who were totally cool with him paying them absolute crap wages. Can't remember the kids name, he's moved on, was one of their video coordinators. Enormous douche. But Fitz was plastered and grabbing any college co-ed within reach and asking them if they agreed that said douchey worker looked a lot like Ryan Gosling and how would they like to hook up with him. It was weird and uncomfortable and he was very sweaty. It was probably like how a porn exec scouts local talent. Just creepy. Anyways. There is no real moral to the story. Other than Fitz is gross, but very enamored with his very mild star power.

I'd rather have Arthur brown than like some ok 2 deep guys.

Depth, or lack thereof is what killed Snyder's last 2 legit threats at national title aspirations.. especially in 2012 that HAD  Arthur Brown. Don't diminish the importance of needing really quality depth. Or put all your eggs into a razor thin 1st string with no real support behind them. Let me know how that works out for ya

it worked out to "2 legit threats at national title aspirations" crap brain

Crap brain. For saying quality depth is just as important as front line talent? Okay then. Lol.

we just bought our AD at dollar general store

I'd gave to look at overall numbers. But first initial salary starting out? Hardly getting a guy on the cheap. ..

But my personal opinion is if you are starting to approach paying ANY AD closer to $1 million/ yr range you are starting to overpay.

Start throwing big, big money at an AD and i'd prob argue  you are spending irresponsibly.

Hell i bet , blind guessing, Taylors starting salary is prob pretty close to top 50 nationally, or somewhere around there. It's competitive and i have no doubt if we really wanted to could pay a lot more. But again. Nothing wrong with be responsible with administrators salaries

A) Ageism has nothing to do with old people exlusively, EVERYONE is ageist to some degree. It's a pretty natural tendency.

B) As for Snyder exclusively preferring older coaches? I dont think age has much to do with it. It's a secondary result of Snyder wanting people on his staff that he is very comfortable with, have experience and more importantly direct knowledge of his program, and most importantly people that he trusts. I don't think Snyder really branches out and networks much with younger coaches and assistants at coaching conventions anymore. So yeah his choices of younger assistants are basically former players. But no i don't think the actual age is a huge factor, just a byproduct

Personally, which was kind of alluded to before, i don't believe there really was a home run hire out there for us:

Veatch? That dude was a bunt, and from what i've heard he ruined his chances by aligning himself with his former boss on too many big decisions. Good fund raiser, not a guy I'd trust to make big tims decisions on his own.

Hocutt? Experienced, young and good fund raiser. But frankly i've never understood our fanbases obsession with him. Had a massive scandal unfold in his time at Miami which he had no desire to own or fix, just bolted....to Tech, where he really hasn't been able to foster meaningful success on ths field/court with some of his hires.

Weiberg? Again, well liked, but like Veatch, havent seen him make big keg decisions on his own

The more i think about this hire the more i like it. For one primary but enormous reason and that's not only transitioning NDSU from DII to DI but guiding them to some pretty serious success and making them an absolute force in the FCS. Not many AD's in the country have the foresight to take on that kind of gambling venture AND make it wildly successful.
