Yes...the point is that there is very little that can or could be done by oscar to slow down this jug-er-not.  Stop blaming oscar.

52
tech is one of the premiere teams in college basketball, we're not.  you can't blame that on oscar.

This.  Texas Tech and Chris Beard have advantages that we don't have and can't match at KSU.  Their program has history and intangibles that we don't have and never will.

53
i'll be at least a little surprised if they don't go at least 4-2 over their last six.

Which of the 4 are we most likely to win in your opinion?

In order, likely to least likely.

ISU
UT
BU
@OSU
@TCU
@OU

We shot and scored well against all of them the first time. Most don't particularly care to play defense. 4-2 is very doable.

I would be pleasantly surprised by 4-2 but i just don't see it.  Can we make the tourney at 9-9?   It's hard for me to imagine a scenario where oscar loses his job at the end of this year.

The losses are so, so bad.  There was a time i would never consider switching channels during a cat game but i find myself mindless flipping thru the channel guide and realizing about any one of the 300+ channels i get would be more interesting than the game.  Thankfully i missed the last 16 minutes of this abortion due to a riveting episode of 2 Broke Girls.

What to do?  We have a team built around 3rd year starters (hell even our Freshman is a redshirt) and still can't sniff the top teams in the league.

55
I was just sitting here considering how i would feel if Brad Underwood was our coach and the team was exactly the same...same players, same record, same everything.  I realized i would be very excited for our team and happy with where we sit in the Big 12 race.  I would very much be looking forward to a run in the tourney.   I honestly feel very sad about this because i think i've concluded that i will not be happy or excited for our team so long as oscar is coaching.  I truly wish i could change or overcome that...i really do.

when the debate turns to whether or not a "play-in" is considered a tournament win, you've already lost
If he would have lost that game, people would have busted his ass and railed on the he doesn't win tournament games train even more. It's a valid point to analyze for non-agendites.

this just isn't true.  to me this has nothing to do with oscar.  I felt this way before this dork was even our coach.  I feel the same about the stupid "second round" thing. "Southern Utah States first ever second round win!"   ummmmmm, no.

I hate to agree with meowmeow here but the fact that people that support oscar are arguing this point speaks to the level we have descended to as a program.

It's been said elsewhere, but it sure seems to me like you are actually the one trying to manipulate the facts just so you can say oscar never won a tournament game because you want the guy you dislike to look as bad as possible.  I don't GAF about what the NCAA calls it, but a first four game is a postseason/playoff/tournament game.  If you win you keep playing and if you don't you're out.  What else would you call it?

I'll go a step further and say literally the only people not tallying first four games as tournament wins are people who don't like the school/coach.  You can prove me wrong if you ever complained about schools like Southern Utah State getting credited with a tournament win and it WASN'T in the context of criticizing oscar.

Well if you were my friend you would know that this has always been a source of contention for me and i discuss how stupid it is during every tournament.  But you aren't my friend and never would be because you are a complete idiot and i hate your stupid face.  No disrespect.

TBT, when did you start following cats basketball? And be honest. I think that answer is a huge dividing line for expectations between different cats.

And no M^2, it wasn't just wooly, it was Asbury, and Altman's 1 tourney appearance too. All I've ever known growing up is crap bball teams during my cognitive years of living.

Can't tell if you're trolling but this is actually pretty important.  i think it definitely plays a part in football for post-Snyder-hire fans....they all seem to have unrealistic expectations due to recent success because that's all they know....or maybe i my expectations are too low given my pre-Snyder experiences.

HOWEVER, i watched the cats coached by Jack Hartman and then Lon Kruger.  Through 1988 a case could be made that we were on par with our sister school to the east.  We were a basketball power and a delight to watch. Who can forget Ed Nealy???  I digress.  if you only know the Asbury, Wooly, Altman eras then oscar probably does look pretty damn good.  He isn't.

just my .02 but i don't consider winning a play in game a tournament win.  hang a banner for eff sake.  i always thought it was hilarious when one of the 16 seed teams would win their play in game and the graphic was "Eastern Michigan Tech's FIRST EVER TOURNAMENT WIN!"   ummmmmm, no.

60
his aggressiveness in his approach to scoring is night and day even from earlier this year.  It's clear he realizes he needs to score.

I still say he's the worst player in my lifetime that's played as many minutes as he has.

MM fact of the day is a double fact:
Last night was only the 11th time this season, 24 games, MM had more rebounds than fouls. Last night he managed to have rebounds than fouls despite getting no defensive rebounds in 26 minutes. 10th time he's had either 0 or 1 defensive rebounds.

If you want a good laugh, just watch MM try to get position to rebound.  A few games ago he was in good position and an opposing player literally leaned on him and MM took 2 big steps forward and was out of bounds.  He has zero idea how to setup a base, get big, get wide, hold your ground and attack the ball.  It's like he's never been coached how to rebound.  He just get's close to the basket and waits..it takes virtually no effort to muscle him completely out of position.

So very oscar.  Great win for the cats!

National Signing Day...we barely knew ya   :bawl:

64
Will we get a rebound tonight?   :dunno:

How many points will their giant have against our 5's?

66
It's always risky to rely on outside shooting.  As infuriating as a 38 point loss is it's not overly surprising.  A reliance on 3's will also allow you to win games you shouldn't when shots are falling.  All that said, eff oscar...sorry Fan :(

67
Well, the game is tomorrow not tonight.

I guess i should have started another thread...i meant not a single bball post on the ENTIRE board (note the use of the word entire...all caps even)

68
The excitement for KSU bball is palpable.  9:30am and not a single post.  Grats oscar.

69
you're forgetting oscar's uncanny ability to do juuuuuuust enough.

Here is the Daniel Green breakdown:

He was supposed to be on the team this entire past year and possibly start. He didn't qualify, no idea what he has been doing in the meantime.

He is now qualified and will join up with the cats sometime soon, however because of playbook stuff and other things, he is going to redshirt this upcoming year also.

Therefore it has been two entire years since he graduated high school and last played football.

I am always dubious of someone that uses the word "entire" more than once in a post.     Also interesting that you say "played"....do you mean "played in a game"?  redshirts sit out one ENTIRE year by your standards.  Green will have sat 6 more months than a typical redshirt...6 less months than a greyshirt.

Side note, what point are you trying to make?  Who really gives a crap that it took him an extra semester to get cleared?

I'm happy for Andre.  I've always found him to be a well spoken individual, and he has natural feel for the ryhthm of the game.

Surprisingly articulate

We'll have to wait quite a bit too see him (redshirting Fall 2018), but this is good news.

It's just like he went to a juco, but not really lol. I don't even know what to say at this point, kid sits out two complete years when supposively he has the best skills at lb on the team.

Two?
I think he's saying getting here a year late and then redshirting.

i'm bad at math and all but isn't he only a half year delayed?  I guess 2 years probably works toward the agenda better?

Probably shouldn’t have passed a law requiring insurance to cover preexisting conditions, huh? Also, insurance premiums were exploding regardless of the individual mandate because not nearly enough young, healthy people were buying insurance, mandate be damned.

And not to quibble, but the primary aim of Obamacare was always expanding Medicaid. It has been marvelously “successful” (at running up massive costs) in that regard.

Democrats rammed this crap bill through, and it’s gonna get worse until they join with Pubs to fix the mess they made. By contrast, Pubs rammed through tax reform, which I suspect is going to be hugely popular.

Most of America has no idea how much Obamacare has mumped up insurance coverage for people that are not covered by the gov't or their employer (which is most of America).  For those people like myself who actually have to purchase our own insurance....my wife and son and i are on our 4th different provider in 4 years and pay around 3X what we were paying 5 years ago for less coverage and a much higher deductible.  It's basically a month long process (on the phone) each time our provider decides they aren't going to cover our "area" any longer.  It's a way bigger mess than most people realize.
