I remember when we clown suited some wac equivalent in the Weiser lock copper bowl

K-State two biggest blowout wins in bowl games, 1993 Copper vs Wyoming and 1995 Holiday vs Colorado State

Congratulations.  That was over 20 years ago.  I'd like to see CSU and KSU do a home and home in BB and/or FB.

I'd love roadies to Fort Collins. Kick your guys ass and then drink some great beer

At least when it doesn't turn out that way, you can go to the pot shop, get stoned and forget that you got your ass handed to you by little-ole CSU.

You guys are never going to be in a P5 conference. Sorry. :(

CSU and KSU will be in the same conference within 10 years, whether it's a P5 or G5 conference is the question.

*nearly $200 million

Nice try, 'Sack.

Yep, I rounded up.  It was actually $197.8 million.

Kansas State Football / Colorado State Raises $200 Million in 1 Year

More than CU, Purdue, Oklahoma St, Tennessee, etc.  Great things are happening in Fort Collins.

Kansas State Football / Re: Future schedule update...

Making sure we got a P5 lined up every year just in case we get Mountain West'd

actually that was mandated by the B12.

Well, it won't matter when BYU and Colorado State are in the B12 in a few years

Corrected.

We might as well invite these guys once the BigXII kicks Baylor out of the conference. You down, RamSack?

Absolutely.  I'm sure TCU would be okay with it too.

Here's the latest construction cam.  They started adding the second deck on the east side this week.

No BB coach does well at TCU.

That's because our boosters didn't really care about basketball.  We have a shiny new arena to win in, so that will be changing.

Back to the OP, we have a shiny new football stadium at CSU so we'll be winning too.

We'd definitely beat your ass in BB.  You guys suck.

In football, we've got a ways to go to catch up to TCU.  Gary Patterson is the man.

That won't continue.  We got Jamie Dixon this offseason and he's already improved the recruiting tremendously.

You guys are aware that you'd be signing up to be dominated by TCU again, right?

I would like Colorado State to be a part of the B12. and ISU and WVU to not be parts of it.

Both of my parents were born and raised in KC and I still have a lot of family in the area.  Many of my relatives went to KU or KSU, so it’d be a good rivalry for us.

Regarding Iowa St:  Our BB coach is former Cyclone HC Larry Eustachy and I think it’d add intrigue if we were in the same conference with them.

Yeah, Larry has some pretty interesting history on his ISU road trips. He knew the hot spots...so to speak.

The guy drinks about a 12 pack of Coke during each game now.  Larry has his demons, but is a good coach and would make CSU competitive in the Big 12 just like he did with ISU.

No joke, I almost went to CSU.  They almost got me when they told me all undergrad students get free season tickets for football.  Then I realized what that really meant.  I mean, free is great and all, but if someone offered you a free steak that had been neglected and left to sit out in the sunshine for two days, would you still eat it?  I guess if you like maggots or something...

With that being said, how did they raise that money again?

All students pay some sort of athletics fee embedded in their tuition instead of charging for season tickets.  I don't remember how much it is, but it's probably a wash for the students who go to the games and a boon for the university which has increased it's enrollment by 15k in the last 20 years.

Folks that buy tickets like me are footing the bill for the stadium.  There have also been some sizeable donations.  The student fees are not being used to fund the stadium.

Is this the same Colorado school we kicked out of the big 12 for sucking ass at football and hosting rape parties as part of football recruiting?

If so, a 30k stadium / wedding reception hall / Realtors convention center wouldn't get you in, in the first place, and certainly won't cure past misconduct of that degree.

No, that's them rich, arrogant kids from out-of-state that come to Colorado to look poor.  About half of CU is from out-of-state, no kidding.  CSU is where kids from Colorado go to school.

RamSack I think you'll enjoy this thread:

Also I  stadium talk so I am very excited for CSU.

I think you see in the link why an on-campus stadium is being built.  As far as Moby Arena goes, it holds 8745.  Yeah, not the biggest, but it holds it's own.  Opposing teams say that it's difficult to play there because the stairs are quite steep which gets the fans closer to the sidelines.  I love watching BB games when it's full.

The CSU vs KSU game will be at the Pepsi Center in Denver (where the Nuggets and Avs play).

266
Do you throw AA batteries at CU fans during the Rocky Mountain Showdown?

Sorry, but I don’t have any idea where this came from.  If there was an incident where a CSU fan threw batteries at a CU player or fan, I’ll be the first to say I’m sorry for the a-hole who did that.  That’s not representative of 99.9% of CSU fans.  Every fan base has some bad apples and CSU is no different.

267
it's being funded by weddings?

I thought that might raise some eyebrows.  Weddings happen year-round and is one example the advisory board used as being a source of income to help pay for the stadium.  It’s probably more likely that people will rent out a space for a wedding reception though.  And, yes, people do get married at stadiums.  Other obvious events include business meetings, holiday parties, etc.  Basically anything that hotels rent their spaces for are the same types of events CSU will be renting their stadium areas out for.

Congrats...it will look very nice as long as they don't half-ass the finishes like Baylor.  I enjoyed your Stadium Fly-Through.

How did you guys pay for it?  Asking for a KU friend of mine.

I’m not a finance guy, so I’m probably not the best to respond but I’ll give it a shot.  The total stadium cost is $220 million.  It is being financed by revenue from the stadium including ticket sales, weddings, and all sorts of other catered events.  In the fly through you can see many of the meeting areas that will be available for these types of events.  The President made the advisory board go through all kinds of financial models to make sure the bonds could be repaid without dipping into the General Fund or increasing tuition.  Private donations for the stadium are in the $40-60 million range currently.

From the FAQ about the stadium, it reads; “The stadium is financed by investors and donors and does not rely on any funding from tuition or state funding. Bond payments will be made from stadium revenues and private donations. Bonds for the new stadium sold in less than 90 minutes on March 19, and certain series of bonds within the package were as much as three times oversubscribed. The total bond package delivered a true interest rate of 3.57 percent.”

I'm not here to troll.  I just want K-State fans to know that CSU very much wants to be part of the Big 12 and is making pretty significant investments (academically and athletically).  Good luck in football this season.  We'll be looking forward to you all coming to a BB game in Denver in Dec.

Obviously, Colorado State wants into the Big 12.  Here's an aerial view of the new on-campus stadium construction.  It's about 2 weeks old.
