Kansas State Football / Re: Football Recruiting Thread

Out of curiosity, does anyone know who K-State's highest rated signee is? Not counting transfers. Rivals has signing classes archived back to 2002. Daniel Davis was No. 11 nationally that year. Anyone know we signed anyone higher before that?

So will Green be a RS FR in 2019?

Correct. For all intents and purposes, he's part of the 2018 signing class.

28
^^^ Def the wrong thread for that, and lol at that being the thing to get worked up about.

Feel free to relocate. Wasn't really sure where to put it. And I know Bruceketball gives us PLENTY to get worked up about. Doesn't make this any less ridiculous.

This probably isn't the right thread for this, but it needs to be shared. Guys, I just... dammit...

In all seriousness, is there another program in the country where the potential transfer status of a fullback could cause this many waves?

Will he be a grad transfer?

Kellis (I think) said after Dana took the job that he'd be eligible to play immediately as a grad transfer.

Definitely seemed likely when Dana took the job at UTEP, but any doubt was erased when we signed a juco fullback this morning. Good luck to him.

Local kid that was DITR material iirc. Has shined and has interest for the 'Cats.

Yeah, I read more about him after posting. Didn't realize he was so highly ranked among juco players. Saw he's visiting Nebraska this week. All the more reason to hope he lands in Manhattan.

Curious about this kid. I'm not a GPC subscriber so I can't read the Q&A. Any particular reason we're going after him so hard? His season stats and offer list look good, but is there more to it than that?

Sorry if already posted elsewhere (didn't see it anywhere), but anyone know what this is about? Hayes?

Kansas State Football / Re: Who should the new OC be?

Not that it matters, but does anyone remember if Dana and/or Del came back right away under Bill? Pretty sure we hired Andy Ludwig as our OC in Bill's first year but he took another job before the season started. Were D&D supposed to be on staff in different roles that year?

how does one define the ingredients which come together and make a head coach?

Strength
Earned it
Agro
Needs it

seriously sean has put in his time and is the seed of the wizard - the more you think about it the more he deserves this position.  no one else knows kansas state like he does. and he knows football

"The seed of the wizard" made me literally LOL at my desk just now. That is all.

Not sure why, but this thread reminded me of the Ell Roberson/Seneca Wallace game in '02 where we were both ranked. Pretty sure we won that one by 50. I love having Iowa State's number, but I kinda miss not having to sweat it out every year, even against their "good" teams.

Wow. I figured the story might have been at least a little embellished. Not even a little bit. Thanks for the link.

FINALLY got around to watching the deleted scenes last night. I knew Barry Sanders was committed to K-State at one point, but I didn't realize Parrish basically told him to get bent. It really is amazing how many HOF caliber players were committed here at one point in time, even back in the dark ages.

My father-in-law recently told me a story about how we lost Walter Payton. He said Payton was literally on his way to Manhattan and stopped to see his brother at Jackson State, then JSU coaches blackmailed him into staying by threatening to pull his brother's scholarship. Can anyone confirm this?

First to 20 wins, and I don't trust our offense enough to think it'll be us. 20-14 Texas. Hope I'm wrong.

Anyone got a video of Zuber's end zone drop in the fourth quarter? Was following on my phone and I'm curious if it was as bad as Twitter made it seem.

Bryce Brown sighting. I forgot how insane he and Arthur's recruiting process really was. Kept that draft streak alive, though.

he also used to stand creepily behind frank martin when asking questions, sort of like trump did to hillary at the one debate.

Ha, I don't remember that but I don't doubt it. Btw, Rake, you were still around when I was just getting started at the Collegian. I was never nearly as talented as you, Meek, etc., but you really helped turn me into at least a competent reporter. Hope you're doing well, man.

9. any collegian writer, past or present.

10. mark jannsen - don't know if i spelled his name correctly, and frankly don't care. he was respected by almost nobody, he was rude and dismissive and needy, had a crusty personality and writing style, and often lifted quotes from others without attribution. his LHC LHC Bill Snyder book was one of the most poorly formatted books i've ever read.

Super late to the party, but I couldn't agree with this more. Janssen's longevity was the only thing he had going for him. Otherwise, he was a major tool. On more than one occasion, I was doing an one-on-one interview (admittedly as a new and fairly dumb college reporter), and he interrupted me to make small talk and openly laugh at my questions. Completely derailed two separate interviews, which I really didn't appreciate. Can also confirm that he lifted quotes from road games he didn't even attend, etc. His writing wasn't near good enough to make up for the crap human being he was.

this guy is visiting this weekend:

Just saw his profile and offer list. Coleman has already done some damn good recruiting work in Georgia, but if he can flip this kid, it'd be his best work yet.

Hardly a tidbit, but hopefully this is evidence that Strickland is good to go. Had heard/read some concerns since he wasn't at the open practice earlier this month.
