Rattler will most likely be available

Hard pass

You are truly the voice of the fan. I'd bet if you polled K-State fans a majority of them would agree with you.

I would try to get him.

Goodness, why does every dude gotta be farm fresh for K-State Tuckville to like them?

Why I’m the hell would I be clamoring to replace 1 turnover machine (Howard) for another more prolific turnover machine (Rattler) who quite frankly failed with an absolutely stellar supporting cast?  What makes you two think Rattler would be able to perform ‘better’ for us than he did at OU surrounded by 4 and 5 star team mates?

Tuck that crap out your ass

No thank you.  Would prefer to get Rubley in and take the lumps that’ll follow and have a 4 year starter potential than a 1 and done retread which couldn’t cut it previously and will declare next year anyway (only to get picked up as a late round flyer at best and be back home selling insurance within 2 years)

success breeds success.  Gotta win some to get the recruits to actually pay attention - also, keep in mind how many small town kids aren't really interested in staying in Ks no matter the circumstances.  A chance to get away is one they're likely to take.

Mostly though, have people forgotten just how bare the cupboard was when Kleiman took over?  I for one think he's done pretty damned good filling holes with the transfer portal.
This tuck talking point might be valid if these kids weren’t going to places like Lincoln, Ames, or Stillwater. Those are just giant recruiting misses.

Where'd you grow up?

I grew up about an hour north of Manhattan - and Lincoln would have been just fine to 18 year old me.  As would Ames and Stillwater.

And would Manhattan not have been? Not sure I get your point.

I’m sure you’re deliberately ignoring the point.

No, I legitimately do not get your point. You think kids from Kansas would rather go somewhere like Stillwater over Manhattan because it 'isn't Kansas'? Having been a kid from rural Kansas once upon a time and having visited both of those towns that is preposterous. If that is the case, the staff did a terrible job on selling Manhattan and K-State, which proves most of our points here.

No it doesn’t - not unless they’re literally missing on all of them.

There are more factors than Manhattan being more or less attractive to an individual.

muqluk, is your point the kids from Wichita we lose OSU and the kids from KC we lose to ISU, MU or NU want to get away from home for school?

Not all of them, no. But it does need to be factored in that this will very much be involved in some of those lost kids.

And after having been to Oklahoma I would be inclined to agree. At 18 however, I wouldn’t have anything more to go on than ‘it’s out of Ks’ and that would have been a potential selling point.

We needed to hold OU to zero points on that drive. If they score to open second half the game may be out of reach unless we force a turnover and score.

Never underestimate Rattler's ability to produce turnovers.

after running the vanilla of vanilla offense throughout our early season, my contacts within the program have told me that messingham and klieman are chomping at the bit to pound the accelerator tomorrow.

apparently they’ve found several huge gaps in the sooner’s defensive scheme and are looking to light up the scoreboard on saturday afternoon.  messingham has been the puppet master of underplaying heisman howard up until now in an effort to conceal the incredible progress he’s made throughout the offseason and that includes several intentional fumbles that were acted out in what could only be described as an oscar worthy performance.

look for the wildcats to win by double digits and go cats! :gocho:

Ray seems to be coaching the kick and punt returners as well.

The TEs can catch balls thrown near them. No idea about the FBs as I can’t recall a target to them yet this season.  Granted they’ve (mostly?) been transfers and presumably were coached decently well previously.

Messingham is the WR coach now - but one (ongoing) season isn’t really fair to pin the issues all on him at WR.

This is the problem I have at laying the problems so squarely on the QBs - whichever, doesn’t matter. The TEs can catch, as can Vaughn. Different routes being ran by them, sure - but that is more an indictment on play calling if those routes are so dramatically different. Why the problems with WRs getting open and catching the ball?

I see a lot of stone hands drops.

Been seeing them for years - partly why I’m not so down on the QB play as others. I do feel there’s serious room for improvement at the QB position also, but when passes are on target, even with no coverage, there’s a maddening amount of drops and this predates Kleiman and crew by at least 5 years.

I’ll concede as that’s not really what I feel is our bigger problem.

Any of these 3 with Tyler Lockett would look ‘very’ good - or at the least wouldn’t be bad enough for any of us to call for their backup to take over.

If they ran him 20+ times and didn't let him throw anything except 50 yard bombs to push the safeties back, it might be OK

So the Bazooka Joe offense? I'd rather have a Kody Cook back there who can make the 5-15 yard pass and still run

The word. Honestly the first drive of the game (besides some vertical routes they just need to not do) was actually a well called drive IMO. It was only a FG but some short passes, offset with proper running plays both inside and out. They just then decided to not do that anymore

I mean they really only had one more drive with Howard, and it wasn't great but it wasn't abysmal.

I think the consensus among non-pudding brains is that -- aside from that abysmal fumble that OSU recovered for a TD -- Will Howard looked pretty good serviceable before he left the game injured.

Both looked just ‘ok’ but neither particularly better than the other.

Also, neither got any help from receivers dropping passes ‘in their hands’ - they can’t catch the balls that are in their hands at least at a 75% or better, what the hell good are they.

I’m not happy with overall Qb development either but why is nobody talking about WR development?

They have been bad for nearly the entire decade - with a few notable exceptions.

Hell, they can’t catch a cold in a plague ward

This is such a monumentally stupid idea it's hard to believe even ESPN would do something so ill advised.
:bang:

Smart planning would have these interviews filmed - and then put in a vault until Miles actually starts showing some success.  :impatient:  Or, as is more likely to be the result, burned when he gets fired with a huge golden parachute in a few years - and forgotten that they ever had such a stupid idea. :'bye cruel world:

I'll see myself out... :Woot: :buh-bye:

OSU’s got some elite skill players but I think we are going to maul them up front. Not sure how to slow down their WR in space but Hazelton will come up with something.

TOP and keep their offense coming in cold.
