If they continue to not be publicly committed to the conference, the Board of Governors should 100% Temple them. I mean what do they offer that Memphis doesn't? Not kidding ether.

According to the Big 12 Bylaws -

"A Member (a “Withdrawing Member”) may Withdraw, or shall be deemed to have Withdrawn, as a Member of the Conference: (i) if it gives notice of the intent to Withdraw to the Conference; or (ii) if a Supermajority of Disinterested Directors by affirmative vote determines that such Member: (A) makes statements or takes actions that are determined by a Supermajority of Disinterested Directors to evidence the intent of such Member to withdraw from the Conference either currently or in the future; ... or (D) if a Member otherwise takes or fails to take actions that are determined by a Supermajority of Disinterested Directors to be contrary to the best interests of the Conference taken as a whole."

It seems to me that with the AD out there blabbing that they'd jump ship at a moment's notice if they could that it would definitely be easy to tell them not to let the door hit them in the butt on the way out.

Kicking KU out of this conference after losing OU and UT would be such a boss move for the Big XII leadership... which is why I know it'll never happen.

“What will happen here is that the BIG XII will expand to 14 teams and this will cause paranoia in the big 10 Conference and to counter that they will steal Kansas. Goff and Girod know how the game works.”

ku has definitely improved year over year but they’ve still got a long way to go

That's fine by me, as long as we get a little bit better ever-y day.

Seriously. What are they going to do, kick us out? Without UT/OU we just became the UT/OU of the league.

How can people so dumb speak so confidently?  It's kind of inspiring in a way.

So, I guess the question now becomes, will the coaching staff change their approach to the game now the Skylar is out, and just go all in on the ground game, or will they make him throw the ball, undoubtedly spotting the Wolf Pack 14 points?

What year was it that we played Texas an only had like 4 passing plays the whole game, and we didn't even need them to win? I want to say it was 2009 or 2010. We literally ran on every play and won the game handily.

Anyways, that should be our strategy against Nevada.

That was CK's coming out party.

Yup, that was a time when we didn't realize the hell we unleashed on Texas's defense with CK and Daniel Thomas, and it was 2010.

YES! I was at that game and remember that everyone was surprised when he started instead of Coffman (though I don't remember the injury), and then we just ran it down their throat over and over. It was so beautiful. Shouldn't have even bothered with the 4 passing plays.

Quote
Kansas State, with Collin Klein starting for the injured Carson Coffman, went on to win 39–14. Entering the fourth quarter Kansas State was leading 39–0. Texas quarterback Garret Gilbert had 272 passing yards, 1 passing touchdown and 93 yards rushing, in addition to 5 interceptions. Kansas State quarterback Collin Klein had 9 passing yards on 4 attempts, 127 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Kansas State running back Daniel Thomas had 106 rushing yards and 2 rushing touchdowns. Kansas State defensive backs Ty Zimmerman and Tyson Hartman both had 2 Garret Gilbert interceptions, while Kansas State defensive back Stephen Harrison also had 1 interception. This was the Wildcats' third straight win over the Longhorns.

Will the sec ban horns down?

Not a chance

It's amazing how often programs like Tennessee, USC and Texas fail when they roll the dice on new coaches sure  to lead them back to their fading glory days. You'd think they'd have more luck just by random chance.

I often think there's a lot of coaches that don't want to deal with the boosters and drama that comes from some of those fan bases. Texas is the absolute worst when it comes to this stuff.

534
Why didn't Texas just take their Longhorn Network and go independent?

Because they only get $15 million a year from ESPN for LHN.

They're not called the whorns for nothing. I'm looking forward to their struggles in their new conference.

Whoa, having seen this new rendition, I'm okay with no longer having a bridge over Kimball... though that would still be awesome.

Also, the stadium, trees, and road/entrance work that's been done over the past year look absolutely fantastic as you come to the stadium from the west.

Based on my review of Nevada's games so far: their run defense is total garbage.  K-State facing this defense this week is a godsend.  Truly a miracle.

Cal's running backs rushed for 7.5 ypc.  They gave it to their RBs just 21 times. SMH.  Meanwhile, they threw the ball 38 times for 4.7 ypa.  Idaho State's RB also got 7.5 ypc.  F worrying about building up Howard's confidence this week.  Feed the runningbacks early and often.  I want the 3 headed monster to get 40 carries.  Let Howard carry it 10 times too if he wants.

They have an average pass defense and an above average pass rush in my view.

Go rush for 300 yards, run 3-3-5 all game to try and stop that mad bomber crap they pull, and we should win by 3 scores.

i needed this

As did I. I may take a step back from the ledge... at least for now.

Will Howard is complete trash.

It's been 9 months, and nothing has changed. Will Howard is still not a D1 quarterback.

NGL after thinking about it this is probably the best it'll e, and it does have some nice perks

1. This effs over texas and ou who now are forced even more to consider how long they want to stay in, they can't hope espn comes in and uses the AAC to dissolve us, we we're at least proactive and didn't go quietly into that good night, so I'm happy about that. I enjoy that for the next couple of years basically we can act like texas and ou don't exist when it comes to decision making so that's nice too, they now have to be along for the ride rather than the other way around. sure long term for texas and ou they'll love it more being in the SEC, w/e, I'm done with them.

2. Other than maybe BYU (but being mormon and new I can't imagine them being too much this) the only real prima-donna fanbase left is ku bball, which is w/e. No more 800 lb gorillas acting like they own the joint doing whatever the eff they feel like, being all pissy about horns down or w/e, that crap is done and we can wipe our hands clean of all of them, good riddance. I think it'll make the conference long term be more egalitarian and less self serving to any one school or set of schools, and realistically being one of the last 4 of the original big 8 left we kinda get to be more of the core.

3. It will be I guess exciting to have new members, and see how we do things like divisions and whatnot. Last time we "expanded" we only really added one semi-exotic team in West Virginia (TCU being in the footprint to me doesn't really make them that novel) but UCF, BYU, and Cincy to a degree fit that perfectly, Houston not so much but w/e.

We will lose prestige, but we did not overall lose it all, and in general going forward I think being cut adrift from those giant names will make it be a better conference for all. SEC will become the single dominant conference for football, but like while they'll never say it outright, I'm sure Arkansas, Miss St, Ole Miss, Kentucky, Vandy, Mizzou, and even Tennessee and South Carolina probably feel a bit out of their depth now being in a conference with the likes of LSU, Florida, Bama, Auburn, A&M, Georgia, Texas, and OU. Be like a more worse version of having to be TT and Baylor in the Big 12 south once upon a time. One of those happy to be there but in generally utterly impotent to anything.

I agree with just about everything you've said. However, I'm also wondering just how long the SEC continues to drag along those school's I've highlighted, or possibly how long those schools stay in the SEC. If this is all about money, then some of those listed haven't been doing a damn thing for TV sets or wins for the past three decades. As another poster pointed out several weeks ago, voting for some of these schools to include OU and UT is an admission that you're just there to collect a paycheck.

539
Not sure where to post but Twitter is blowing up on Big 12 expansion right now from current members, new members, and news outlets.  Everyone seems pretty excited.

Honestly, with the snobs in Norman traveling with the whorns to the SEC to both be in football purgatory for the foreseeable future, this conference could get really fun, even if we don't get the media exposure we necessarily want.

Outside of UCF and that awful court design, those are some great looking b-ball venues.

That's what I was thinking as well.

What’s the Iowa sports radio chatter this week like?  Was a bit surprised to see ISU -4.5 earlier in the week.
:dunno: I couldn't think of anything less appealing to listen to.

You're going to miss out on the change in corn prices. Gotta keep up with the Chicago Board of Trade.

... or do you think most of Iowa's corn comes down to KC??? I've never actually looked into that.

New thought- since ku only apparently plays football on fridays now, we should let them play at bsfs for free. There would already always be a bunch of football fans in town looking for a free-$10 thing to do Friday before a cats game. The stadium would probably attract just as many fans but it would be nicer and maybe ku could make more money off parking and nicer suites/amenities.  :dunno:
this is an incredibly stupid idea because you just lost your "kc metro area" hook, thanks for literally nothing Dr Idiot

It's also a ridiculous idea because there are no KU fans in Western Kansas (aka West of Club Orleans).

Breakers has moved into the Club Orleans location.  It's your one stop shop for when you want to play pool but also do that in a place with a slightly dirty vibe.

Interesting. I knew it wasn't Club Orleans anymore, but wasn't sure what had become of it. Breakers has a FB page for those who are curious.

Coastal Carolina is a 27-point favorite according to Circa Sports despite our fighting Jayhawks winning their last game.

They just can't get any respect.  :shakesfist:

It's also the only game this weekend featuring a top 10 matchup, and it should be a good one. Cambell has never beaten Iowa either.

That's where Dennis Rodman went to college, he was a Savage.

I met Rodman in a bar in the middle of the Denver airport last year. He was traveling with that plastically enhanced girlfriend of his. I wanted to ask him what North Korea was like but chickened out as my flight was called and I had finished my whiskey.

I don't think the SEC will mess with us because they know we have been working with the Big Ten for some time and that is where we are going to end up. Playing games with the Big Ten is what turned them off on Missouri.
Quote
I disagree. Remember this is about who ends up as KING of the mountain. SEC pretty much has the Mountain in Football but Basketball is still available. Payoff maybe down the road 3 - 5 years but its there. They want to dominate college sports and this would give them the wins in the two most important arena's.
Do you think the SEC wants the embarrassment of offering KU and then have us accept an offer to the Big Ten. I think the SEC knows that if they offer us that we will notify the Big Ten to tell them we have a SEC offer and the Big Ten will invite us. Whether it be #15 or #16. The Big Ten won't let us get away and let the SEC take another potential candidate off the map. I could see the SEC offering us thinking the Big Ten would take us if they think that it helps out OuT moving faster but if not I doubt it. If we try to play games with the Big Ten it won't end up well for us. The Big Ten doesn't like that. I think the Big Ten offer is coming we just need to be professional and work with the league and the schools in it.
