Wow! If WSU had stayed in MVC, Loyola wouldn’t even be in tourney.

But seriously there is no way in h*ck these good boys can play like they did last night, that is like a one chance in a lifetime thing.

I was fortunate enough to speak to Brad Underwood at the Illinois state tournament in Peoria’s Carver Arena today.

He told me, “K-State got the gift of a lifetime.”

i don't care that he's a dork and i don't care if he wins.  it's currie and the way martin was ran out.  i thought maybe i'd come around this season with currie gone, but it didn't happen.  maybe next year or maybe with the next coach or maybe never.  you can't force these things.

Martin and Currie had problems, I agree. Martin, an East Coast guy, also created his own problems. He would not still be here, maybe by choice/ maybe not. It was a learning experience for him and those lessons learned have really helped him at S. Carolina. Good for him.

Like it or not Webber is a good coach. Recruiter? Mostly hard working blue collar types. Very similar to our football program. The way he changed up the defense and his players squeezed the life out of Texas after a bad start is a good example of his coaching. He could win a Championship and still have haters.

You have your opinion, I have mine.  I am not defending or trashing Weber.
I am just saying he has had similar problems before and we will see if the situation improves this time.
you come off as though you're still in the wait and see mode.  a lot of people here have already seen enough.  hence the discussion.

Fair enough, Pclams, and some are quite angry, too. It is only sports, not life or death.  I have been guilty of posting some anger comments and my parole officer says that is counterproductive, I'm trying to quit.
I only want 20+ win seasons and NCAA bids like everyone else. And since Weber is staying put, I can only hope he starts winning again, optimism.  I wouldn't consider rooting for them to lose 20 games next season as fun?  So, if anyone wants to bash me because I want K-State to be a winner next year, go f*** yourself.  Damn, did it again.

anger comments are good here, you're fine.  i might think you're a dumbass, but you're fine.

Thanks, pclams, but optimistic dumbass. What a pal.

McCamey, Weber and tough love      Chicago Sun Times - Inside Illinois - December 3, 2008[/u]

The frosty relationship between oscar Weber and Demetri McCamey resurfaced again after McCamey failed to pass, shoot or call a timeout at the end of Illinois’ 76-74 loss to Clemson, and it bears watching. Weber refused to start McCamey, his most talented player, in the first two games of the season in an effort to coax more intensity and consistency out of the sophomore point guard. McCamey doesn’t seem totally onboard with Weber’s tough-love approach, and Weber still seems impatient with McCamey’s casual approach. This uneasiness could make them stronger if they get past it–or it could make for more problems. When Weber arrived at Illinois, Dee Brown didn’t buy in initially, but when he did, it helped him become a complete, and more mature, player. On the other hand, Weber and Shaun Pruitt never saw eye-to-eye last year, and it cast a pall over the team. The McCamey deal is hardly on the same level, but both of them will benefit immensely, as will the team, if they can get on the same page. That means McCamey needs to step it up, but Weber probably has to watch his step psychologically, too.

Well hell, I guess oscar has learned from his mistakes.  I am sure glad we at KSU don't have to go through what happened there...

Love the sarcasm.
If you are claiming I think he has things figured out, where do you get that?  I think the ship is sinking faster than he can bail.  Weber needs a miracle next year.
With McCamey, he gave him 2nd chances and he played well. However, the behavior of both couldn't have been positive for the team.

Catman2 doesn't know crap.

One of many one line posters. You add nothing. Not a rational thought among them. Ain't that right bread.

I think we can all day that it is 100% clear that oscar has learned nothing from getting fired by Illinois.  He is repeating the same mistakes again and again.

I think he learned something at Illinois. There,he hung on to a talented problem child or two. Must have thought he could turn them around. He couldn't and it sent the team down the tubes.

We will see at Kansas State if his move of sending them packing works better. Maybe it will, maybe it won't, who knows.  Most would agree, something positive better happen on the court next year.

Some talented players don't follow the rules and are released. Duke let one go 2 months ago but then, Duke can fill those holes.

Who?  Richmond was gone after his freshman year.  Smith never played again after his sophomore year.

Answer the question, shitbrain.

McCamey

  Which team did McCamey, the most productive player oscar ever recruited to Illinois, send down the tubes?  What were his problems that oscar foolishly overlooked?  Good rough ridin' grief.

How many years sooner would oscar have been fired if he didn't have McCamey?  oscar wouldn't have sniffed the NIT between 2008-09 and 2010-11, let alone made the NCAAs twice, without him.  oscar should call Demetri once a week for the rest of his life and offer to blow him for everything he did for oscar that oscar did not then, and will never, deserve.

You have your opinion, I have mine.  I am not defending or trashing Weber.

Bobby Hurley to Big East?
I have never understood how DePaul is so bad at basketball when they're surrounded by so much talent in Chicago.

So true, DePaul hasn't had a coach that could keep kids home since Ray Meyer in the 80's. Kentucky, Duke or KU get the best ones now.
1997-98 Conf. Champ team @ ILL, Kruger's roster had 14 of 16 in-state kids. That was amazing.

If and I say IF weed was the problem it was probably just the straw that broke the camel's back. It does make sense that the 3 game suspension would have been 10% of the season for 2nd failed test.

And what about Malek Harris, he got the same 3 game penalty and wasn't booted. If anyone knows suspension, it is Malek. In high school he was suspended his entire senior basketball season. The infraction/ infractions were never revealed. And Weber still took him. So, it looks like Weber is open to 2nd chances. It is probably the 3rd or 4th where he draws the line.

We cant let this kind of cancer infect the board.  Look at what happened with the basketball team and those given second chances.

C'mon Wetwillie, give me another chance.  Heck, testing positive under K-State's drug testing policy gives you 3 strikes.

Is Catman2 is a name-calling bully?

Heat of the moment.
I would very much like to apologize for that error in judgement but that seems to be a sign of weakness on this board.

Evidently, God just now came up with a plan. He should have talked to God sooner. That messsage is just sad.
Shut up unless you have details to share

The good thing is that with the team cancer gone we should be better next year!

I agree Stevesie60.
In the working world, if your workforce sees no consequences for workers with bad performance, bad behavior, breaking rules, then your respect as a leader goes down the tubes along with the performance of your good workers. The bullet has to be bitten and action taken. It's not easy, especially if you like the workers and have tried to correct the problems.

This is a defining moment. If the remaining players feel Coach oscar Weber did the right thing, then morale and teamwork should improve.  If not, then...................all is lost.

Note: This about the respect of Weber by his remaining players.  I already know how many of you feel.

I hope Marcus does well wherever he lands

I do, too.  The discipline and hard work that it will take to move past this mess should make Marcus Foster grow up.
Under the circumstances, maybe this is what's best for him.
Many don't get a wake up call. I'm sure Foster will want to show what he has inside.
He has something to prove. I wish him success.

Reminds me of Bryce Brown. The kid had NFL skills but didn't put in the work. In college sports that will kill the spirit of the team members that do work hard.
Snyder sent him packing.
lol, no

Uh, yes, Snyder didn't dismiss him. He just left him on the bench til he quit. Same thing. Look it up dummy.  Career at KSU consisted of playing in 2 games - 4 plays.  "Could have played in a bowl game".  That guy is a simp, too.  Wow, stupidity reigns supreme!!!

Iowa State or Texas A&M.

Where Foster plays will say a lot about his problems, like a mid-major that's desparate.
P5 coaches will know the story.  Foster blew it.  He didn't wet the bed, he $hit the bed.  :flush:

Its fine if you're excited for next year, but listing how tall a player is is probably the dumbest reason.

I must admit you certainly are brilliant. Okay, let's only recruit short people.  WTF? We have lacked inside presence for 2 years, except for Gipson, now he's gone.  I have no idea if these guys are any good, but it appears someone is trying to do something about this need.  Wow, you read way too much into my comments.  What insight, not, dpst

why are people so excited to get rid of gip and give his minutes to DJamer?

Who's excited to get rid of Gip?  He was the hardest working man on this year's team, a true Wildcat. I didn't see anyone on the current roster with his low post skill.  At 6'7"* he was amazing. Is DJamer getting his minutes, who said that?

*My guess is he's 6'7" but for his true height you would need a ruling from EMAWzafried. Looks like he is the tallness moderator on the board.
