And the entire movie was about the struggles faced by black people in the wake of the civil rights era. At the end of the day, the white guy and the black guy both ended up learning unexpected lessons from one another. I get that that is classic oscar bait, but the "white savior" narrative I had seen hurled at the movie seems inapposite to me.
Have not seen the movie, but this description sounds like a movie about a white man overcoming stereotypes and bettering himself despite being challenged by the pressures of being a racist.

It’s a stark contrast. Like the first few questioners on both sides were basically just re-reading everything everyone has already read on the news & Twitter. The last few junior senators were asking direct questions about financial dealings that hadn’t been explored nearly as much.
